What brand and model car alarm system have people installed that works with the factory Toyota remote ?

I don't think you can have an aftermarket alarm work with the factory remote. I have a Viper 3303V with motion sensor and glass break sensor. I can still use the factory remote if I want to, but then the alarm isn't armed.

Any reason for wanting to use the stock key FOB?

Save from carrying two separate remotes ?

I like the fact that you want to keep your car safe. A lot of people fail to understand that unless they purchased an add-on security system from the dealer, and even those are rubbish, their car comes equipped with an immobilizer anti-theft system, not an alarm.

The immobilizer will not trigger an alarm if a door is breached without the system being disarmed or if there's a sudden blunt impact or if the glass breaks.

The only time the immobilizer works is if someone is trying to steal the car without a coded key being near the ignition cylinder and even that can be bypassed and duplicated. Even in that case, an alarm will not sound. That red button on your factory key fob is a panic button.

You seem to recognize that most thieves are opportunistic and their method of choice is smash and grab, hence why you want an alarm. You want to minimize their opportunity, which I think is smart. Usually those initial warning chirps from an alarm cause a would-be thief who is tapping cars to see if they're equipped with an active-alarm will leave yours alone.

To answer your question though about the factory fob and an alarm...No...different frequencies, proprietary technology, won't work.

With that being said, it sounds like an aftermarket alarm is what you're going for and it won't work with the factory remote. However, you may be able to get by without carrying 2 remotes but you'll need a combination of products.

A Compustar alarm can be paired with a RPS Touch or EZGO. Or better yet DroneMobile.

The RPS Touch gives you the ability to arm your vehicle without a key, simply by holding down the red button on the touch pad. To disarm the security system and unlock your doors, enter in your secret pin-code, which you can regularly update.

The EZGO is an RFID based transmitter that about the size of a nickel. As you get close to the vehicle the doors will unlock and disarm the alarm. There's a button on the EZGO that when pressed locks the doors (also can unlock and pop the trunk depending on how it's pressed) and arms the alarm after you get out the car.

The downside to these 2 systems is that they're 1-way, meaning if your alarm goes off, unless you hear it, you have no way of knowing. Another downside is if the alarm is going off and you want to silence it, you cannot do so without going to the car.

DroneMobile is similar to the SmartStart feature with Directed Electronics products (Viper, Python, Clifford, Avital, etc.). It's an additional module that can be installed with an Compustar alarm system that gives you the option of using your smartphone to lock/unlock/pop trunk/arm/disarm, view notifications and it is essentially functions as a 2-way remote.

If the alarm goes off you'll be notified on the phone and if installed correctly it'll notify you if which zone of the vehicles has been infringed upon. The downside to this is you must always have your phone otherwise you have no way of disabling the alarm.

The best approach if you want an aftermarket alarm and don't want to carry 2 key fobs would be a combination of RPS Touch and DroneMobile. With both, the likelihood of you being locked out of your car is slim because the Drone won't work if you don't have cellular coverage, it runs off AT&Ts network.

Not to mention 2-way functionality is really what you want. What's the point of having an alarm if you don't know it's going off?

I'm sure other companies liked Directed Electronics have some type of combination of products like Compustar.

Toyota installed an alarm compatible with my car and my dad's camry.

In my car it uses the factory key so when I hit unlock it activates, in my dad's car it works with his wireless key (similar to the top of the line model in toyotas).

When I get home I can look up the manual and other paperwork they gave me with my car, it should show the model. All my other cars have used prestige brand car alarms which were installed aftermarket. but Toyota here does it so you don't need an extra key fob. I don't recognize the brand.

I'm in Australia and toyota has tried to charge me an arm and a leg for it. If you can find the brand and model then I'll may be able to purchase one aftermarket.

Remote start isn't illegal for the US market. It's a VERY popular aftermarket add-on for folks living in places where it actually gets cold in winter.

Oh! fine!...so in which country is illegal? I heard from Wages of Kiramek that is illegal in some country, so I tought to US.

I have no idea what country it'd be illegal in. But I know for a fact it's legal here. I know folks who have had it installed. My mom has it in her 2013 Mazda CX-5.

I personally don't want it, but I live in Phoenix. Freezing temperatures here mean 40's on the Fahrenheit scale :bonk:.

I'm sorry Speed, I couldn't find the box or any of the stuff to find out the brand of the alarm.

Compustar makes the aftermarket alarm that works with the factory key fob.

It is the FT6000 unit with a blade al then you add an avsalva or additional key to the system.
