What I bought instead:

Well, I was thinking about trading my STI for a BRZ, but I realized that, for a couple of reasons, I didn't want to. Primarily because buying a new car isn't a solid financial decision for me, since I don't care much about a warranty. But also because I never really fell in love with the idea of driving an N/A flat mtor.

So, this weekend I ended up trading my older car for something, well, a little older.

It's a forged, 383 LS6 with a mild cam and exhaust. :]

it must sound beastly when you start it, i wish could get something like this.

It certainly doesn't sound like a wankel. LSX FC's are getting much cheaper, and they are some relatively affordable swapped FD's, too. NOROTORS.com

Sexy FD + no fairy triangles = so much win.

SUB-FT86 04-29-2012 04:51 PM

That car is so worth!!! I'm jealous.

Dark 04-29-2012 05:29 PM

Beautiful. I've always loved FD.

ZetaVI 04-29-2012 05:32 PM

Very nice. You should post more pics.

cmspooner 04-29-2012 05:52 PM

It's a beautiful car, but those V-8 swaps always make me a little sad; the Wankel is such a neat engine.

Lonewolf 04-29-2012 06:26 PM

Now that is a worthy car! Great lines, big power, relatively lightweight. Good choice!

tree fingers 04-29-2012 06:27 PM

Rotary motors are interesting, but, at this point, I think would rather have a big V8. I hated big V motors growing up, but that hatred was mostly unfounded, since at the time I had never actually driven a LSX car. MOAR PIKSHURZ AT TOP

SUB-FT86 04-29-2012 08:57 PM

This car looks like you paid a lot for it.

zygrene 04-29-2012 09:38 PM

That's one of the slickest FD's I've ever seen... lucky man.

tranzformer 04-29-2012 09:38 PM

Awesome car. Looks to be in great condition. Want to give a rough estimate what you paid for it?

tree fingers 04-29-2012 10:28 PM

Well, I traded my older car and a little coin, so I didn't pay a lot of liquid cash. However, if I had sold my older car and paid cash, considering the value of the previous car, it would be somewhere between 25,xxx and 30,xxx.

EJ20 04-30-2012 12:58 AM

holy awesome @_@ good move :D

Allch Chcar 04-30-2012 05:02 AM

:respekt:, very nice choice. I hope you enjoy it thoroughly. :D

Gardus@Supersprint 04-30-2012 06:30 AM

Good move, I love that you can legally own a car like that in your country.
It's going to be a real blast, lots of torque, light body. It looks brilliant and not rice at all.

A bit pricey but i's a real keeper.

Gardus@Supersprint 04-30-2012 09:49 AM

It also depends on the milage of the donor car, the state of the interior, othe aftermarket components...

More pics and a video maybe?

Dave-ROR 04-30-2012 10:09 AM

Love it!! My favorite color too.

tree fingers 04-30-2012 10:56 AM

Not having to go through the trouble of selling my car was worth a considerable amount to me alone. That and the market for selling STIs isn't what it used to be, so I'd be lucky if I even got KBB value for it. It's a 93 chassis with 130,xxx miles, which is pretty low for a 20 year old car. I'll capture a video today, but here's a list of mods, for those that are interested. The color is Subaru's Aspen White.

The car may not be worth this to everyone, but this is the closest I will probably get to having a "new" FD, so my opinion of its value is held in pretty high regard. :]

I'll get more pics and videos soon!

Ryephile 04-30-2012 11:24 AM

Very nice, congrats! FD's still look great, and the LS6 is always a lusty engine. I'm sure you'll enjoy the hell out of the car.

tree fingers 04-30-2012 12:53 PM

Thanks for all of the kind words, guys. :]

Did some highway pulls with an obviously modified RX-8 the other day; they sound beastly, regardless of whether or not they're reliable. Kinda stinky though...
