$8000 to spend
So basically I have right around $8000 to spend on whatever I want on the car. I was thinking of going for a supercharger and maybe going for some lights and little things like that. What would you do with it and explain why?
:eyebulge::thanks: Also Im either dipping or wrapping my car... what color do you think? I love the battle ship gray frs |
Tires and track time
|
as much as i agree with adding more power, i recommend starting from the bottom up, that way you'll be able to control the power much better. :D

I'd go with track time only if you can afford to potentially lose the car, entirely or for a bit to make repairs - depending on your skill level. It IS unlikely, but as we've seen on here lately, these cars can get away from you.
If its your DD, start with suspension and brakes and work your way up, exhaust, etc. |
$8000 to spend
Tires, clutch , turbo, exhaust, tuning...probably what I would do. Probably would surpass your spending limit though.
I personally am starting slowly. Picked up some rce tarmac 2 coilovers and a K&n filter. will be trying some auto x and such later this year. My list would be Coilovers or springs Rims and tires Whiteline bushings Brembo brake swap And other suspension goodies. Depends on goal. You want a faster car? Better handling car? |
Since we live relatively near each other...I suggest brakes and tires. People who live near us are terrible at driving LOL.
If you plan to keep the car for a while, I suggest a clear bra as well. Freeways are pretty bad on the 60, 10, and 210. You wouldn't be really able to full utilize the supercharger if you only drive around where we live lol. There's like a stop sign or a street light every couple hundred meters with speed limits of 30-40 MPH. So if super charger then you should invest in track time so you can fully utilize it. I don't recommend lowering the car in this area either.. stock height is low enough here unless you wanna get stuck on a driveway LOL. I've seen a lowered Lexus SC get stuck on a driveway and wasn't able to move. Driver had to get 3 people to push the car haha. Keep a look out for a 10 Series FRS in your area :) |
I have the opposite view of some other forum members on this one. Whenever I come across a lump sum I try to knock out the higher end products that I want. In my case it was my wheels, CF engine bay and just recently coilovers and a lip kit. You can ALWAYS save a little cash here and there for track time but its not everyday that you have enough for FI, nice wheels, ect.
Again, thats just me. Theres nothing wrong with what anyone else here said. |
Tires, Wheels, Suspension, Seat time, then power. Have fun!

Do small things, that money will go faster than you think. Then your transmission will break. ;)

What would I do .. ?? Come spring, I'd suggest you take your FR-S on a long drive. Why? Because it was made for roads you can find along this route and there are many beautiful sights to see all along the way......:) humfrz |
Lower, wheels, and FI. Depending on how you want to lower and what wheels thats almost half the money. However they make the car look a world of difference. Then go FI! Maybe throw in some toms or red out your tails.

Go FI. Once you add power, you can never go back to stock. The car is 100x more fun to drive
