Allen key broke off inside rear strut...
So, I was changing my springs from RCE yellows back to stock a month ago and broke off my 5mm rounded allen key inside the rear strut. I have already tried tapping the strut upside down to try and get the little rounded hex bit out, but no luck. I've also tried to drill into it (the broken off bit) to try and fit an easy-out, but it seems to be harder than my drill bits (which are fresh out of the packaging).
:mad0259: Short of getting a new rear strut/spring assembly, what are my options? I wanted to put the RCE springs back on, but for obvious reasons cannot. |
Buy a better drill bit.
I know it sounds simple, but really thats all there is to it.. I drill out plenty of peoples fuck-ups every day at work (aircraft mechanic) and I assure you it can be done - don't give up so easily! |

Oh, just heads up to everyone else: don't buy Kobalt (Lowes) tools. They'll break off inside your suspension and ruin your toys. |
If it broke off while you were tightening, try a cobalt left handed drill bit.

Cobalt drill bit.
Edit: beat me to it. |
Insanity wolf responds anyways.
