I know there's a pedal dance to help put the braking system in diagnostic mode- and thereby disabling the TC/VDC systems- but I don't like the idea of not having ABS in these conditions.

My question for the tuners is - are there any tunes you can set up to allow us the ability to 100% disable the nannies? I'm not sure if TC/VDC are controlled by the ECU or another control module- but if they are, can you create tunes that will allow us to disable the systems completely when we turn off the TC button?

Thanks!

Sinan

You'll keep ABS with the pedal dance.

Yep, that's my bad. I got you mixed up with SkullWorks.

Getting the two yellow lights doesn't totally disable tc. It's mostly off, but certain circumstances WILL cause it to kick in some, and the tc skid light (center of the console inside the tach circle) will come on meaning tc has activated.

I've seen it happen on my vehicle. The pedal dance is the only way to actually FULLY disable the nannies, but you turn off EBFD in the process as well, which is something most of us decidedly do NOT want to do.

There's an item for 08+ Subarus called Setting Saver (IIRC). It would basically record your button presses and save it like a macro. So you'd have TC/VSC off and throttle set to S# whenever the car starts, or whatever combo you want.

Perhaps something like that can be implemented for this platform.

But did you feel anything happen? I suspect that light flashes whenever you lose traction and is not implying that the car is doing anything about your situation. It seems that when you lift off the road surface that the TC/VSC re-enables and the lights go out on the dash.

It does something, but not much. In the snow with the TC in the don't turn back on position, it won't come on when drifting, but it will if one wheel is on snow and the other has traction while goosing the throttle.

^^ That's the EBFD system giving the loose side of the diff some resistance. A Torsen diff requires some resistance on the low traction side and if there isn't enough resistance it'll unload like an open diff. To stop this the ECU will apply a bit of brake to keep the diff from unloading. It's not a stability thing, it's a keep the diff from unloading thing.

Interesting observation on my end. Seems the tc/vsc turns off when pressing the tc button LONGER than 5 seconds. Seems like the 3 seconds doesn't fully deactivate the systems.

I am not new to this technology at all. In fact, I wrote one of the best writeups on all of the 4wd systems for the newest generation of Grand Cherokee and this is a feature of the system (except they call them brake locking differentials).

Here is my basic info compilation thread for when that subforum first started. I had some awesome tech articles and this one got stickied (and links to others).
