Passenger Side Dash Mods

You know what I'm talking about - the vast empty space in front of the passenger.

Found this on another thread - thank you @wrohdejr

Looking at that picture, I feel like there's a fair amount of unused space there. Beyond gauges (which I think are stupid, mounted that far off-center; sorry), what other mods/mod ideas have you all seen/do you have?

I was thinking a supplemental glovebox/cubbyhole would be kind of neat - something similar to what some model years of Chevy Silverado did for a while, for those of you who know what I'm on about.

To avoid a rehash; the airbags deploy from above, on the horizontal part of the dash, not from the vertical (in the limited BRZ, silver) panel.

Anyway, I welcome any other thoughts, or any links to supplemental cubbyhole parts or kits you find!

After you cut out like described as above yes there is a huge empty area behind there. Room for almost anything. If i get around to it i will see if i have a pic of the empty space and post it for you.

i cant bring myself to cut any bits of the car i cant replace easy. so putting an extra glove box there is no-go for me.

but i have thought of modding a quick release phone holder onto one of the dash trim pieces. That way i have somewhere to put my phone when i use it for gps and when i dont need it i can just unclip it or something for a cleaner looking interior. Buuut laziness and lack of free time has made me put it off

I was thinking a digital display or something. Maybe a DVD screen or tablet/gps for the passenger

I put my sat radio unit that space.

I was tossing around an idea to mount a circular plate to the dashboard to use as a base to attach my phone car dock suction cup to, to get it near the radio.

Are there any better detailed walkthroughs of removing those dividers like in the pic above? Are they removable, or is that person cutting them out?

I've got a ton of hardwired electronics and it'd be real slick to put the plugs and chargers and wire bundles all up in there.

agree. I haven't found a decent place to put my xdm .40 yet.

Here is a pic of the dash cut out after removing the dash cover. You can see how much room is behind there.
