Trackday at ORP

Hi guys, just got an email from Team Continenal (TC) that announces their first HPDE of 2014. The venue will be Oregon Raceway Park (ORP) Saturday, March 29. ORP is a very exciting track, 2.2 miles long, 16 turns, and lots of elevation changes. The track is very well suited to the handling characteristics of the 86. No need to have previous track experince, TC puts on an excellent drivers school, with race experienced instructors and top notch classroom sessions. I went through their program last spring and was very impressed.

So, if you've ever wanted to give ORP a try, or want to find out what your 86 is really capable of achieving, this is your opportunity!

I'll bump this periodically as a reminder. Oh, TC typically runs 5 20 minute sessions vs 4 for most other groups.

I may try and do it but that may be a tough one for me. Tattoo's or racing.... My artist takes about 6 months to get an appointment with and April will mark the 1 year milestone on my latest project so I just can't cancel my appointment that is on that day :(. I was planning on track days starting around April this year and ORP is on the top of my list to try this year. I was looking on the ORP site the other day and there was nothing set up yet for any of the clubs.

You want to drive this track!

This is THE track you want to drive your FRS on. You also want to do it with Team Continental because they offer some of the cheapest track time for the $$ especially if you want an instructor and if you've never been there before, you definitely do!

1: It's unbelievably fun, technical and oh yeah, elevation changes galore.

2: Safety. You can get it wrong on just about any corner and not have to worry about major damage to the car. There's just one wall on the S/F straight, don't hit that but for the rest of the track it's just open grassland. Go ahead, push those corners!

3: It has a half pipe. Seriously. A left hander to a right hander both with 14 degrees of banking.

You're even safe if your steering wheel comes off:

Here's some footage (top of a 944) around the track:
