Violent shaking could be from snow in wheels ?
Just had a huge snow storm and the snow was stuck in my wheels from the plow completely packed in there and didn't come outs while driving on the highway... Whenever I would turn the wheel it would make a weird squeaking sound. Only going over 50 would the car start bouncing and shaking like a mofo... Could it be from the snow PACked in the wheels ? Only on the two left wheels bc of the plow. Will post how it does tomorrow since I cleaned it out

Yes

Yes! Snow or mud in a wheel has a huge impact on vibrations. I get mud and dirt caked in the wheels in my FJ when offroad and it'll vibrate so badly that it can't be driven until I knock most of it out.
Also keep in mind that chunks of ice can knock wheel weights loose, but that's not too likely since I think you're primarily in snow. |
Yes. Think of it this way. They put very very small weights on the wheel to balance the tires when you buy them, and here you added huge amounts of snow and ice to the wheels. They are WAY out of balance. Just go through a car wash or wash them out, or remove the ice. That should solve it.

8th gen civic oem wheels are brutal for this, had to kick them out every time I went through deep snow.

My old car had this problem because the snow packed inside the wheels would hit the brake caliper as they went around. That could be happening to you.

yeah i think thats what it was for sure, keep everyone posted today when i go on the highway. because this never happened before only after the snow yesterday

I had this problem every time it snowed. I sprayed the inside of the rim with ACF50. Most of the snow will no longer stick.
