FRS To BRZ Question

Some of you may have read that I've been interested in the 2015 WRX in that thread. The thing is I LOVE the twins. I will admit to maybe not doing as much research as I should have although I thought I did a fair share. When researching I found that the FRS was to be the faster car. I read Toyota just did a better job. So I went with the FRS. Now I know it's not really true. There are subtle differences but none I would likely be able to tell.

So I read about the WRX and honestly what I like most are the features (HID's, Dual Zone, Spolier,Navi, Leather, ect.). So I guess I want the upgrades. So now I'm thinking I maybe can just unload the FRS for a BRZ Limited and call it a day. I'm sure there are deals around being it's winter here in PA and the Subie dealers always seem over stocked on these. I just think I would make out better going this route than paying to upgrade the FRS.

Thoughts or suggestions on getting the best price?

Sell the FR-S locally and call Clint from Hamburger Subarooni. Although, with the money lost in the transition, you might be better off just upgrading what you can on the FR-S to get some of the features you want. The GPS is a total piece of shit anyways and you can do far better for less money.

The navigation in the brz is bad. It's going to cost you a quite a bit in depreciation to swap. I would try and get used to the FRS and swap out what you can't get used to. Just my opinion. If you must get a new BRZ get a 2013. I got mine once the 2014 showed up for 25,400 with 0.0% financing.

i say for the best price, contact Clint on from heuberger on here and see what he can do for you. Take that number and see if anyone local is willing to match/beat it. If they don't go back to Clint and buy the car.

This is probably a question for them but how is the trade handled?

It's more the XM than navi. But if you start adding the cost to upgrade everything it makes sense. Good headlights are going to run a grand, navi and Xm close to another grand. A spoiler shiped and the cost to mount probably around 600 to $700. It just all adds up and that's only some of the upgrades. It's worth me looking into. Can't hurt.

I appreciate everyones feedback.

I don't think any dealer would be able to give you a firm quote on trade without seeing/driving your car physically. That said, you should probably be able to get a ballpark number without a dealer seeing your car.

Go find CarMax. Get a trade-in appraisal. The quote is good for 7 days and that will be a VERY good gauge of what a dealer would give you money-wise for a trade-in. Whether you trade in with the dealer you buy from is all dependent on location, since I doubt you're going to drive your FRS to Denver to trade it in for a BRZ...

You can always sell private party, but that requires you to front your own money for down payment or financing a larger portion to start, which may impact the rate you get.

There's supposed to be the monogram series coming out, which is equivalent to the BRZ.

Doing the same thing with my BRZ Premium for a BRZ Limited right now.

It will be way easier to just trade for the BRZ than to try and add all those features to an FRS. If you want the stuff, trading sooner is probably better than trading later.

I have the brz limited so I'll give you my thoughts. If you can live without the push start/ keyless entry then I would upgrade the frs you currently have. Spend the money on some nice recaro's (they come with heat & alcantara)

The nav sucks on the brz so get a nice up to date aftermarket unit.

That's basically it.. everything outside is minor cosmetic stuff. It's not worth it to trade in. You'll end up having more car for your money with the FRS!

Gant- only if he wants the brz bumper, side emblems

I see a lot of people saying this, but I don't think the Nav is bad at all...never had a problem with it. Maybe if you live in the woods somewhere...:iono:
