I'm contemplating registering for this as my first ever autoX event. Is it a newb-friendly event?

Definitely. You won't have trouble finding any number of NASA veterans willing to ride along with you, either. It's always super helpful to get feedback from guys who have been doing it for years.

Sounds fun but too far for me, especially on Superbowl day.

Ive signed up, didnt realize it was super bowl day though, i should still catch the end of the game
