Car interior smells like feet.

I'm having an odd problem.

Past few days, car smells like foot odor. I don't have it and i rarely let anyone in the car. I thought it was my rubber mats but i took those out and cleaned them well and the odor is still there.

Been for a few days now. Any idea what to do?

I just put some baking soda in two cups in the car, maybe that'll work.

I'm quite confused on what to do.

Thanks...

Did the carpeting ever get wet with snow before you put the winter mats in?

^ What he said. Check the carpeting under the rubber mats. Odor on rubber mats doesn't stick around like it would in the fibres of the carpeting. You may need to take it out and shampoo it.

I just checked under the carpet mats, it was slightly wet. Odd how it got there.

I dryed it out with a hairdryer, then put some baking soda on it to be safe.

Thanks guys, forgot to check the cars carpet it self.

Did you get Italian take out on the way home recently? Spilled some grated Parmesan from a grocery bag?

I prefer my vehicle smell to be Grama Padano personally.

Get car Febreeze spray after the floor dries. Try parking in a heated parking garage with the windows slightly open a few hours. Being in NY I hope your steering wheel is still there when you return. And that nobody dumps dog poo on your windshield.

BTW take a look at the vent inlets at the bottom of your windshield just in case.

how many miles on your car? might be time to change the cabin air filter.

Maybe you just concentrate on your foot care....?

I figured it was this. Happened to me on a previous car, only it was a small rip in the winter rubber mat that I didn't notice.

Water was getting the carpet wet, and whenever I put the heat on to the footwell setting I would start getting the "foot" smell.

What he said. I had 10k miles and the cabin filter was grey with ants and leaves on it. Granted, I park outside, sometimes under a tree, in humid Gainesville, Florida.

I got that covered, your supposed to change it every 15K i believe? I already changed it twice now. It's stupid how dirty they get.

Was the passenger side wet? Could be the drain line working it's way back in.

No, driver side right where the seat lever is.
