Head Unit Wont Play Movies

I've been trying to get movies playing through USB and SD but it wont play anything. It gives me a message saying, "Tracks that can't be played will be skipped". Then it says, "All tracks can't be played". I've tried AVIs, MP4s, and MKVs. Anyone else have this problem?

The headunit does not play video files. It is not legal in the US for any video screens to be visible to the driver and the functionality is restricted because of this. If there is a work around, I am yet to find it.

But that is the short answer...although video on longer trips would be sweet.

It can play videos, but only when the car is stopped.

Thanks for the link. I'm trying to convert a video now, I'll post the results when I test it.

I was curious to work arounds for the video output and I found this product from beatsonic. Expensive but enabled a lot of features.

EDIT: I searched around their site some more, found this product as well, I dont know which one to use...but this one is cheaper. <disregard this, did not read the whole product discription>

Videos will play when parked with the e-brake engaged. Once the e-brake is disengaged (i.e. you are driving or ready to roll away from a stop light), video will stop, but audio will continue to play.

So it's still not working even after following the link. I tried USB ans microSD again, but now it just wouldn't read either one. My iPod works perfectly, but nothing else wants to work.

Did you register your device here?

After doing so, there is a small sample file that you download onto your USB, and you can test it out in your car. You need to use DIVX files. They can either be purchased or converted form other formats. Toast 9 works well converting AVI, MKV, etc into DIVX.
