Trunk won't release!

So out of no where, my trunk will not release when holding down the button in the car or on my key fob (and I've tried with the car both on and off) ...I can however manually open it with the key physically. Just wanted to see if anyone has had this issue or know what it can be? If it's an easy fix I'll do it myself, but if not, looks like to the dealer I go.

On a side note, I thought it could be a blown fuse but in the owners manual, it does not label the trunk release to any of the fuses.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a happy new year!

Did you check the trunk lock button that's INSIDE The trunk? It's located on the driver side.

Get your key out the fob. Insert in trunk lid. And on left side there's a button. Push it or whatever. And then no more worries

Thanks guys! Though that looks way too intense for me to do by myself. I'll take it to the dealer to charge me $100 to do it for me :P

I've had this issue after getting groceries at the store one time....groceries decided to play a joke on me and hit the trunk kill switch (the black push-button switch on the left hand side when facing the trunk) when I was having fun on the way home. This car sucks for getting groceries - they are always thrown all over the trunk and out of the bags unless you tie them closed in knots... :burnrubber:

Plastic bags on rear trunk carpet laugh at Takumi's silly water cup and have fun in the back even with water not spilling from cup. Takumi doesn't have rear carpet in his 86, so he don't know what it's like for groceries to mock you by partying on the carpet...

Yeah, you said it...it also likes to transmorph things in the trunk. I buy a loaf of bread at the store and somehow it ends up a package of tortillas upon arriving home.... :bellyroll:

Good luck with that ....

I had a Scion salesman, that was showing me the car, back in the day, that couldn't get the trunk open with the fob AND couldn't find where to put the key to open the trunk .... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/doh2.gif

Maybe don't stop at the track on the way home. Groceries can only withstand a minimal amount of lateral G force.

Little known secret, if one puts a bag full of tomatos, cilantro, onions, garlic, serranos, and limes in the trunk and drive it through a pair of s-turns as fast as possible it comes out as pico de gallo.

On this episode of Cooking with 86, we teach you how to make a tossed salad and beat your track record.
