Feeler: Back by popular demand...Gokarting #3, the "Tri-fecta"

Greetings Nor-cal.

Since we had a pretty good turn out last time and it seemed like folks had a lot of fun, I just wanted to gauge interest in another go-karting meet. Since we've done LeMans in Fremont and Umigo in Livermore, this time, we will complete the "Tri-fecta" by going to GoKartRacer in Burlingame

To make it worth while, we'll probably do a "mega-track" night where the places usually combine two smaller tracks into one large one. Which in this case would either be Sun 5-9pm or Mon 12-10pm.

I realize some folks are busy taking care of things during the weekends (including myself) so I would suggest Monday night. But I'm also open to other options, ie doing both smaller tracks in separate sessions, etc.

Holler if you're interested, I'll start another thread later with a poll and more details as they solidify.

HAHAHA! Myself and 4 others are planning on going to Burlingame on Sunday at 5pm. See you there.

I was thinking mid to late Jan so people have enough time to plan.

PMok 12-28-2013 01:39 AM

I'm in for a Monday night sometime in January.

I vote on a weekday (T,W,Th) for the 3 race for 45$ deal. Much more worth it imo. We can just switch off on the tracks or something.

tysoNgwaNg 12-28-2013 02:24 AM

Sunday would be cool cause im usually off, and if i work we close early so i could also swing through after work since i work in san mateo. Mondays usually hard since i work all day.

BRZkitty 12-28-2013 02:39 AM

Hollllla, im in just not the weekend of Jan 18-19th b/c work :) thanks

Msnicoleeeee 12-28-2013 02:46 AM

Sounds fun.. Sundays and Mondays usually are best for me since those are my days off and the rest of the week, I work nights.

statlab 12-29-2013 12:36 AM

Could do Jan any night 6th-11th

They have time trail deals during the week for members (3 for 2 I think) and you can run both tracks.

G_Ride 12-29-2013 06:08 PM

Hmmmm, I'd definitely be down to join you guys. Weekends are generally better for me, but weekdays are possible depending on the time.

BPM 12-29-2013 10:14 PM

Count me in on both days.

Thanks for the tip. As far as I can tell, these two are the same thing: Hot laps sessions are $25 per session (~10 mins) but on Tues-Fri evenings, its $45 for 3 sessions, so its almost like a 3 for 2 deal.

So it looks like we have a couple of options:
  • Sunday/Monday "Super Race" at the Super track for $45 which includes a 5 min qualifier and a 15 min race
  • Tues-Fri evening "Triple Shot" for $45 which includes 3 sessions (10 min per session, 30 mins total) on either or both tracks (switching between sessions)
Any preference? Although the supertrack is really fun, to me, a Tues-Thurs Triple shot seems to be a better deal with 10 mins extra for the same price.

I think it's more fun to run the two tracks seperatly.
But I am down for either.

pmccut 12-30-2013 03:54 PM

I haven't done the 'triple shot' before but definitely down for either. Sundays always work for me. Weekdays are hard with traffic going 101 North.

Since most of us are working during the week (myself included) and the place is open until 10pm, I'll aim for something later, perhaps 8:30pm or later? Should be enough time for folks to get off work and avoid the traffic.

Yes! 8:30pm-ish would be great.

Later is actaully preferred.

If this is in the next 6 weeks I'm out. I broke my right arm on Saturday so I'm not going to be doing much car stuff until that's better.

That sucks man, I'm sure it was doing something really badass like arm wrestling a bear or something ;). Heal up, you don't want to re-injure yourself. You can always come over to just hang out.

I was actually messing around on a break in him riding and tried going faster than I had been going and a rock stopped one of the wheels and sent me flying.

B, I totally plan to go either way. Even on the sidelines I'd like to help support these events because they've been a lot of fun each time we've done them.

Time for a new skill. Left hand shifting.👍👍😋😁

I am down for some karting. Only done it once since moving here in September.

Just thought I would mention this - GKR is having a blood drive on Tues Jan 7.
Donors will get 1 free Hot Laps session. If I'm not mistaken, the way it works is you give blood that day, but you will be given a free session to use another time (it doesn't seem like a very good idea to give blood and then jump into a go kart shortly after LOL).
