Off-center trunk?

After owning my car for just a little over a year I realized that the trunk is slightly off center (the left side gap is ever so slightly smaller than the right side gap).. I don't know if it came like this or if something happened (I have never been in an accident). Is this a flaw from the factory? I barely noticed it but when I stuck my pinky along the line where the trunk aligns with the body and compared the bottom left and bottom right and realized that my finger goes a little farther in on the bottom right side than the left.

I would take a picture but it is pretty hard to tell.

It's not a Lexus...

Wasn't really my question.. I was wondering if it is a factory flaw or if somehow it shifted.

But it really was my answer -- don't expect Lexus build quality in a low-priced sporty car.

FWIW, the fit and finish on my BRZ looks very good. But if I start examining panel gaps too closely, I'm bound to be disappointed.

Well the first thing you need to understand is that luxury cars are in fact built better.... compare a Lexus to a Toyota, you'll notice a lot better fit and finish.

It's just how these cars are. However, there is an unofficial TSB for "non-flush" panels. I don't know what happened to it.

I remember that TSB but I thought it applied to the body panel and not the trunk.

As far as I know... the trunk still counts as part of the body of the car LOL.

Well, you can take it to your dealer, ask for an adjustment and see if they'll come through with it. It will REALLY DEPEND on your dealer and service advisor.

Each dealer is independently owned and operate differently.

This is nothing new really. I see minor flaws in just about every one I look at.
My whole trunk is off center, but it lines up with the rear glass.
The glass is offset on the opening by at least 3/32 (2.3813mm).

Thank you, this is what I wanted to know.

All doors and trunks can be adjusted and are done at the factory. It is amazing to watch a trained professional do it.

I don't think the TSB applies to trunk, it was just rear bumper panels to the rear quarter panels. Pretty sure if I tried to fix it / bring it to a dealer it would just break it more lol.

I bet your OCD goes off the charts whenever you stand behind your car or open your trunk.

Hello l0aded ..... http://www.runemasterstudios.com/gra...mages/wave.gif

I don't know what you are addicted to (your word), but you may consider backing down on the dose a bit .... :D

Seriously, I'm not sure where you are looking ... but the trunk in my car looks pretty symmetrical.

Have a nice holiday season!
