TRD Body kit: Cutting or Shaving the front plate holder?

Does anyone have experience with this kind of stuff? I don't know if it's plastic or FRP. I'm assuming plastic. I love the look of the kit and I would get the front/sideskirts, but only if it was possible to modify the front to get rid of the front plate holder. Is it possible? Would it look consistent with the rest of the black plastic frame that goes around the grille opening?

Showstoppers...something like that, had a TRD style front lip without the license plate or wrap around piece. They never posted installed pics though, so some people, including myself, lost interest. The sale thread is now closed.

Do you know if that material is workable? Can it be cut and finished to match the rest?

Course. Look at what needs to be done to have the rocket bunny fenders.

I guess it could always be painted matte black to match the rest of the surface. Thanks!

Yes you can trim it off and then use a 2-part epoxy Plastic Repair to fill any holes and smooth it out (not your hardware store epoxies.) Finish with filler just like any other part.

Has anyone tried this?

Check this thread. The body kit used in it was not TRD, but was a TRD replica. Will give you an idea of what it looks like and what has to be done. I'm not nuts about the license holder, but I personally think the TRD front needs SOMETHING in the center. Looks a bit off without it. Check the thread and see what you think.

@cfordart thanks, yea I see what u mean. The body shop did a fair job. Doesn't look perfect. I think the reason it looks like it's missing something is because the emblem is missing so it throws it off

Some people do not need a front plate. Like people in my province.

If local law does not request a front plate, you can put anything on it.

For example a JDM plate.

It looks good IMO.
