i found mice poop on top of engine...
i opened hood to inspect everything is in order( i do this time to time)
and found pile of mice poops on top of engine where alternator and little engine cover is. some hair was on metal rings that holds intake pipe. now. i am panicking... i did not see any wire chewed up but i dont know if mice is still in the engine bay or just visiting. its my daily car, what should i do? sorry if i am in wrong section, i'll delete this and post else where if you guys tell me where to post. thank you. |
Maybe he ate your crickets

I haven't had this issue, but I think driving around or turning the car on would make the mice leave the engine bay. Maybe put some traps in the garage and go take a drive?

its parked outside. i wish i had garage..

Mothballs are supposed to help. Keep food sources away from the car too.
I had to put some decon in one of my previous cars though :( |
It happens. Critters seek out shelter in the winter and they will fit into places you think are impossible to do so.
Long time ago I found a decomposed rat in the glovebox of a mk1 Vw golf that sat in a barn for about 10 years. Still baffles me how it fit into non vented shut glove box. The way the gb door shut on one of those you could barely fit a piece of paper through. Few years back when doing maintenance found a squirrel had made a nest under the engine of my mothers car. Luckily no real damage was done other than the bits of hood liner it stole for warmth. |
only thing you can do it just wash your car more often.

This is common. At the shop we have had rats jump out at us, a rabbit, baby mice, dead cats, black widow infestations.....
I've heard the moth balls will drive them away, I've also seen people tie dryer sheets to various places around the engine bay. I can't really say how effective these methods are. A couple drops of fox urine should invoke prey instinct and drive them away but I'm not really sure where to get it from(or if it will be unpleasant to you as well) It seems that these pests can be one time visitors or take up permanent residence. Either way they need to be rid of because they are capable of causing serious damage under the hood. |
