I need info and help with suspension problem
I need any input you guys might have. about 2 months ago i swerved into a curb (driver side) going about 30-35mph trying to avoid an accident.
I took it to a very reputable shop which ill keep disclosed for now, and they have yet to find the problem that persists. I've changed my suspension to KW and got new wheels/tires and to no avail. PROBLEM: when turning right into bad/bump roads it makes a popping sound like your struts weren't sitting properly, but it still does this even though I got the new KW's in. here's the BIG issue... when I take on-ramps going Right at about 55-70 mph my car jerks to the right uncontrollably and my traction light (of course) goes off, and I hear in my front driver side something moving or shifting (to my best description). I've tested and taken on-ramps going left even going upwards to 75-80mph and it handles perfectly..its just those right turns... I am now stumped.. :sigh: any help appreciated. |
Have you ruled out alignment issues? Your excursion to the curb may have messed up the alignment on left side which may explain why you experience instability when you turn right because you're loading up the left side suspension.

Were the hubs replaced or checked for excessive play?

Yeah alignment has been ruled out. The hub has not been replaced. I assumed it was visually checked but I will have them take a look at it when I go back next friday

You could have bent a control arm or worse.. the crossmember..something got tweaked.. you need to have the alignment shop check the 'square measurement'... The dealer should be able to help too...A bodyshop will have the measurements also to see if your still square.... hope that helps.. If it turns out to be non-square.. you might be better off turning it into insurance, cause at that point it could get expensive to fix... Good luck
