Coilovers vs Air bags?
I'm sure there are arguements about this already with posts from before. I'm new to most car stuff and i want to hear everyones opinion on it. What do you guys think i should get out of preference?
My car is DD but i'm definitely going to track it. The suggestion for airbags is because the road around VA arent the best but mainly i just want to be able to go over speedbumps and other stuff like that. Coilovers are also cheaper, last longer, and have been suggested for the best performance in racing/track and etc. What should i go for? |
Tracking it? Coilovers.
End thread please. -alex |
do you like to take pictures of your car or have other people take pictures of your car or get your **** sucked on stance forums/instagram
if so then bags. |
well from what you say, coilovers simply because you wont want the car slammed on the track or street. the only reason to go for bags would be to slam the car maybe. outside of that you arent going to beat a coilover dollar for dollar.

coils, and not the crappy taiwanese ones. /thread |
High end coilovers are NOT cheaper than air suspension setup.

the only direct comparison thats been done was the shitty video from airlift where they used unnamed coils, on unknown settings with unknown alignments and claimed their product was better
had they felt their product was better they would have given some sort of metric for comparison rather than trying to bullshit everyone in a comparison with taiwanese turd sticks |

I do think coils are a better option for the op though. |
Airbags are good for the street as most people don't care about what the suspension kit actually does. It allows you to run stupid low and raise the car at will. From a public street standpoint running at low stop and go speeds, this is ideal to that market of enthusiasts. For people looking for absolute performance with that same ride adjustment, look into cups. That goes on top of your high end coilover so you can raise the car as needed over retarded speed bumps.
With that said, high end cups and coilovers are valued extremely high and the reason being the amount of R&D and resources spent to produce such product to that market is very high with absolute quality in mind. For some sort of comparison, I drive on 16k springs all around on my track/daily S2000 CR with custom valved TEIN SRCs and 255 RS3s on 17x10 CE28N. Most cars feel sloppier and harsher than that setup. Current ride height is slightly close to the max height that TEIN SRC will allow on the threaded body and I clear most ramps and bumps with minimal ricer angle over them. If I could add some high quality cups to the car, man...I would slam that beast when it's parked and raise it 4x4 height to run over beast speed bumps all day long! :) |
I had to put this out here.
Put this where your strut location is. http://munchymart.com/images/LaysClassic.gif For my answer, I'd put coilover if you ever take it to track. |

KW V3's aren't really high end coilovers in the big picture. They're a great setup for a street car, but a really high set of coilovers will cost you easily double what V3's are worth.

But again, IMO, bags are for groceries and not for tracks. |
