I love my FRS. It looks good, it is a rare car around my neck of the woods, it is cheap to insure, it's good on gas, it runs flawlessly, and the driving experience in the twisties is worth a lot more than the 26k I paid. I've got no crickets, no rattles, no nothing that I'd change. Thank you very much.

Crickets will probably come, so will the rattles. You will be wanting of more power the second you have to merge onto the freeway when you are going 15 and the traffic is going 65+ (I found that out yesterday).

That being said, the 86 is unique and amazing! My favorite car so far (two 03 cobras and an M3) and also the cheapest! The car is a keeper "fo sho!" Can't wait to go FI!

5k miles and no cricket in a 2013 made in may in the plant. I think they fixed it.

I've never had a problem... Onramps in SoCal are practically drag strips compared to some of the ones I've got...

Mine was holiday traffic coming out of mission valley (mall area). I was stuck going 15 and the traffic was probably about 75. I had a cobra this time last year, so it's never been an issue. I slammed the gas all the way down and nothing….lol… or it felt like nothing ;) . I almost got killed trying to get out into the lanes. Called the wife up and told her I needed a supercharger. She laughed and told me we would start saving :party0030::party0030:

Back in the day, with my MGB, I moved from CA to CT.

I was used to the on/off ramps being long and swooping.

So, the first time I exited an "ON/OFF" ramp in CT, off the Merritt Pky, I discovered they were paved with bricks AND the were very sharp curves AND the getting off cars, shared the same ramps with the getting on cars ..... MG or not .... THAT was an experience ...... :eyebulge:

Most onramps, I'd think the 86 would be fine - I've never had a problem in my Outback, and it's 25hp less and 500lb heavier than an 86 (though that one in your picture does look a bit hairy). This one here in Boulder though can be bad too- when there's a lot of traffic on 36, I've even found my Cayman to be a bit inadequate/frightening. The really fun part is the decreasing radius corner on the onramp just before the merge lane- if you aren't expecting it, it's really easy to end up unable to make the last bit of the corner, and end up in the right lane of traffic immediately rather than in the 75 feet of merge lane. I've seen more than a few cars do that, and I've also seen a couple of accidents here too. It's a really poorly designed ramp. Fortunately, not that many people use it.

I never had a problem accelerating on a freeway onramp. That's what proper gear selection is for. Pulls nicely from 5k in 2nd gear.

On ramps like that scare me .... not so much because of the short merge distance ..... but having some AHole in front of me, panicking and slamming on the brakes .... :paddle:
