+1 those tailights looks nice.

poormans_LFA 04-26-2012 01:21 PM

that exhaust is way too loud for me....or i just don't like the sound it makes? :D

yayforaddison 04-26-2012 01:25 PM

To bad the track was wet. Id like to see the smoke all that power puts down!

Hanzo 04-26-2012 01:28 PM

Not liking the tail lights. The exhaust sounds aweful.

Dark 04-26-2012 01:34 PM

Good stuff.

WhiteGDB 04-26-2012 01:34 PM

I found the wheel/tire setup interesting. 17x8.5 +31 & 17x9 +45. This would give the front a wider track if they used same sized tires, but they used 215/45 & 245/40 tires.

Tire width does not affect track. Track is center to center, not outside edge to outside edge.

Yeah, I think its basically a straight pipe.

denkigrve 04-26-2012 04:16 PM

I don't know what you guys are complaining about the exhaust sounds like a race car, which it is.

There are a lot of "race cars" sounds better than that. F1, WRC, DTM, Super GT, Le Mans, even the SR Scion Racing FR-S sounds better than that.

Any idea who makes them? Custom HKS made? I LOVE the Nagisa Auto LED ones. Bet many will come out the next few months....

Well the SR Greddy FR-S that Gushi drives had it's motor swapped, so of course it sounds different.

It's what the FA20 sounds like though... This is the same motor but built up for the GT300 BRZ:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2jAzQGoKy8"]SUBARU BRZ GT300 IN FUJI SPEEDWAY - YouTube[/ame]

So if this is the car everyone is lusting after Nob's exhaust note is the noise you can expect to hear from the motor unless you swap it out. Liking or disliking is all a matter of personal taste though. I think it sounds fine. You dislike it. Whatever floats your boat.

86design 04-26-2012 05:16 PM

very nice taillights :D

uspspro 04-26-2012 06:50 PM

Also he was barely getting on it... Most race cars sound best at "full song"

Yeah track was the wrong word to use, but you knew what I was talking about.

uspspro 04-26-2012 09:17 PM

You guys need to fix the front page....

It's not turbo, it's SC.

Guff 04-26-2012 09:33 PM

394HP is a lot!! So maybe there is potential for the power hungry people, even with the open-deck and whatnot...

Edit: They probably lowered compression with the new Pistons and whatnot....

SUB-FT86 04-26-2012 09:35 PM

Is this the FA20?

Alfie 04-26-2012 09:35 PM

Those wheels are in my Top 5 list :w00t:!!!

czar07 04-26-2012 09:37 PM

400ps would be AMAZING. bye bye Cayman R?

dori. 04-26-2012 09:59 PM

If you wanna drop 6 grand on the kit, sure.

armythug 04-26-2012 10:03 PM

I'm confused. Is this the Supercharger or Twin turbos?:iono:

BRZ = 30k OTD

HKS Parts = 6k

Labor/Other Stuff = 2k (maybe)

Total = $38k, possibly $40k,

Porsche Cayman R = $66,300 MSRP (A lot more OTD)

So for nearly $30k less than a Cayman R, you're getting a car that is better than a Cayman R (better looking too! :thumbup: )

Sounds good to me!!!:happyanim::happyanim::happyanim:

Supercharger, idk why the Front page says TT....

SUB-FT86 04-26-2012 10:38 PM

I don't care for that much power. I can do with 150 hp less. What I want to know is what the torque curve looks like.

Wouldnt go quite that far. But i guess its a matter of opinion

yera 04-26-2012 10:40 PM

So, without supercharger, but with the others HKS parts we can get about 100hp extra from factory?

What do you think?

Did you watch the video? Or follow this forum cause I find it hard to believe you don't know that its a supercharged FA20 if you do

:D

I know this really doesn't matter to your point, but if they're tearing down the engine replacing pistons, connecting rods and possibly boring out the engine or whatever else, its going to be a lot more than $2k.

That 30k difference is more like less than 20k, maybe even less than 15k. :)

And who knows how reliable it is? I'd bet at this stage, not very.

Lol, I know. But it's fun to think about!

I would GLADLY spend $6k to bring power up to 394hp.

Rockstar 04-26-2012 11:13 PM

nice tail lights. but i would still go for the normal ones

:D

I was just surprised to see some company using the actual engine.

uspspro 04-26-2012 11:22 PM

FYI to all here.

This is NOT the standard bolt-on supercharger kit.

The engine has HKS forged internals, a mechanical TB, water/meth injection, etc. Looks like it is running 1 bar (14.7 psi) of boost.

A bolt-on kit will probably make 1/2 that much boost (due do the stock internals and high c/r) and like 50-70hp over stock.

What do you think?

Not a snowflake's chance in hell.

All the other parts are supporting mods that allow the supercharger to work to it's full potential. They don't make power on their own.

The TB is just there to meet Tech regulations. In motorsports, electronic throttle bodies are a no-go.
But you're right about the power levels of the standard kit. Preliminary info has it rated at ~250PS, though I forget whether that's at the wheels or not.
