Help me choose exhaust (perrin, invidia or ark)
Hi guys,
I know there are a lot of aftermarket exhausts all around. But I'm really interested in 3: Ark DT-S, Perrin Performance, and Invidia N1. I,m looking for power first, and good sound not too loud. Forget about price, I would like to talk about performance. Also thinking in a tune after that. (I have perrin cai already installed) What I know is that Indivia is a very good choise but could be a bit noisy for me. Comparing to perrin that is quieter and Ark that I think is the most quieter from them. But talking about performance and power output...? Thanks! |
haven't heard either but i have a nameless on my car and I'm super happy with it, it's only the axle back at the moment but i plan on getting the front/over pipe for it soon but if i were too choose from the 3 above id give it a go with Perrin since they are a great and reliable brand don't know much about the n1 or ark

I didn't bother dynoing mine before and after my perrin cat back, but I can feel a slight difference up above 4k rpm. It's definitely louder than stock, but it's not loud by any means.
If you're after power first, look at replacing the overpipe and front pipe as well, there's just as much power in those (or more) than the cat back. I've got the Perrin catted front pipe, but would suggest the nameless overpipe/frontpipe combo with a cat and resonator. It's one piece with less bends than any separate overpipe/frontpipes. |
I have the ark grip cat back... So I'm a bit biased, haha. Alone it isn't too loud. Cold start ups are decently loud, but it quiets up and does not drone at all. I also have the ark [Helmholtz] resonated front pipe and a JDL overpipe. It is noticeably louder and enough to warrant notes left on my car and pissed off neihnors. Lol... I'm an early riser. Once it warms up and driving around town, its not overly loud though
The DTS is a little louder than the grip, though, but only by a decibel or two IIRC. Both have simar performance gains. Again, IIRC, the DTS has a slightly higher peak hp but the grip has more gains throughout the range. |
If those are your 3 choices and noise would be an issue then go with the Perrin. I myself had the invidia N1 and just swapped it out for the Tomei 80 and love it, was concerned it would be loud but doesn't bother me.

It all depends on how you're upgrading the rest of the exhaust to give you a more accurate choice. I would have said the q300 or Perrin resonated if you want a header. You won't see much performance of an exhaust by itself.

i've got the invidia n1 and for the price the fit/finish and sound is very good but.... there is the drone between 2.8-3.5k rpm range that is a bit annoying.
minus the drone i would give this exhaust system a damn near perfect rating but overall it's very good just gets a bit loud in the cabin for passengers. |
Perrin.
Done your choice is made :) In regards to performance none of them will do a lot. |
When I drop money on an exhaust it's likely going to be a Perrin system. If you plan on getting a full header system from header back and staying NA then I think you will be building up extra decibels with every piece you add. Starting with a quieter axle back from the start will mean that as you add pieces you won't end up with a droning dB monster that you get tired of.

Perrin.

Tomei 60S or 60R if you r staying NA - nothing beat 30lbs wt saving, most exhaust u wont feel the performance gain - use that money for Raceseng S2 pulley kit and PST CF drive shaft, you will feel big difference, and if you still have money left - go for Toyota 4.556 final drive kit - plus a good ECU tune - like open flash tablet - thats pretty much it for NA engine without touching any internal. Ooops, did I left out Nameless header? lol only when its officially released.

If you plan on headers, perrin. After i installed headers i got the perrin resonated and it's perfect! Not too loud, but definitely noticeable.
