People are wondering how the h11 hid bulbs work with the winjet. i have a retro solution 55w ballast with morimoto 5five 5k bulb. definitely some light scatter and dimmer compared the the stock headlights with hid when driving. i ordered the h7 xb35 awaiting for it to come in the mail today.

Are they seated correctly? I know my H11 had 3 tabs which prevented it from matching up correctly with the single tab in the H7....

A bit confused; if I have an HID kit in my OEM lights, is it still simple plug-n-play with the Winjets? Or will I need to source a new HID kit as well? (not talking retrofit, just the bulb/ballast)

yea i took off the rubber seal that is on the bulb and the metal rod on the bulb was pointed down. i would advise against the h11. my h7 xb35 makes a world of a difference the cut off is more defined. i can post pics later if it stops raining.

plug and play. just need new bulbs. here is a more video so you get a better idea. you just need to get h7 bulbs though. i recommend the xb35 from morimoto you can boost with a 55w ballast. Does anyone know if the Morimoto retro quick projector can be installed in the winjets? I'm looking to do both.

tonystewart 03-06-2014 11:55 AM

Yes, and spend extra for Osram 66240CBI's, it's so worth it

If you want HIDs in these headlights, I HIGHLY recommend just getting an H7 kit. DiodeDynamics sells them and they are the exact same kit as the H11 for our cars minus the bulb and plug-in. If you already have one of their kits, you may just be able to buy the bulbs themselves. In the attached picture, shows the light output of the Diode Dynamics kit'sH11, LEFT - and the H7, RIGHT. The H11 shine extremely dim with bad shaded areas, and seemed fairly unsafe for night driving. Bulb is about as seated properly as it can get. Car is approximately 6' from wall in photo and headlights are NOT aligned yet.

As always, retrofitting proper HID projectors gets you better results and won't blind oncoming drivers, blah blah blah.

Hilarious!:slap:

chimmy 03-06-2014 10:31 PM

Glad you think so. Just stating before the "Do retrofit or GTFO" crowd chime in. Not because I dont care, but because I get it.

tonystewart 03-06-2014 11:44 PM

Chimmy
The H7 setup is a good idea
Everyone who purchases lights has the right to do whatever they choose, having owned HID equipped vehicles since 2005 I chose HID's for my daughters cars.

I was crucified in early June 2012 for installing HID bulbs into Halogen Projectors with modified squirrel spotters, TRS released their Retro-Quik System a few weeks later and by July they were installed. And now they are in the forum members classified for sale.

When a 10-20 year old pickup truck with 6000k HID bulbs in a reflector housing comes at me, I do the right thing, Launch the 66240 CBI's into high beam and watch the retinas burn.

I'm an idiot, ignore.

D2S takes an aesthetic modification and raises it to a performance modification with serious lighting.
Which bulbs did you get?

Khyron686 03-16-2014 05:50 PM

I have the RetrofitSource morimoto projector kit (h1) was meaning to put it into the stock lights - anyone think this will or will not work with the winjets? Or will the screwholes etc be all different?
