My FR-S will reach break-in soon. Some members suggest to change engine oil after break-in. Is this necessary?

You don't have too, I did it because I felt like it.

It is a widely accepted good practice by many enthusiasts to do a short duration on the first oil fill before moving to a standard schedule. Then again, the owner's manual does not mandate this and plenty of people feel it is unnecessary.

Do what makes you feel good.

Not necessary

If you do a hard break it swap it early. if not dont make a big deal out of it and just follow the manual.

Well, I'm old school ...... but, in this case, I just waited for the 7,500 mile mark.

just changed mine for the first time at 3800 miles.

It was pretty clean, my mechanic and I both thought it looked great for break-in oil. He did suggest changing it every 3000 miles though, considering how hard I drive it.

I am wondering the same as OP. Mine has just passed break in. I'm at 1200 I believe. I wouldn't consider it a "hard" break in. But I didn't "baby" it either. Just drove it pretty normal and the occasional "drove it like I stole it" once or twice. Should fluid changing be in my near future?

I would agree it sure couldn't hurt, and will be a good indicator on how your vehicle is running, and any wear and tear it might be experiencing.
If nothing else remove the Oil Filter and empty it into a paper funnel and see what you may see.

I've been changing my engine oil every 1158.63499 leagues.

No.

Personal preference on 1st oil change... But I can tell you that you WILL want to change your diff and tranny oil around 5-8k that's for certain the break in shavings of the tranny and diff are well bit mind blowing to say least.

the blackstone results ive seen from stock engines are good until 9k miles, blackstone says.

did my first change at 8k km, mobil 1.

at 13,000 km, probably pick up a fumoto valve and do another after christmas, not in any rush though. Oil level has never budged, looks clean.

How do you guys feel about just swapping out the filter early on? That is, not doing a full oil change but just filter only? Has anyone done this? Did you find a lot of particles?
