Xm Radio
I want XM radio on my FRS. I don't want to change my head unit. I have the 2014 Deck. Can I do it? I feel like you can since there's a few options in source that still aren't being used.
I searched XM but nothing popped up on the site. |
Does the 14 come with the pioneer system that was optional on the 14? If so then just ask your dealer, they'll hook it up for you.

I went from the 13 to the 14 unit and they look identical regarding connections in the back. Therefore I would assume this should work.

Damn, I guess I'll read all this tomorrow night. Just getting off a long night shift :) thanks for the info tho. I really enjoy XM. Plus houston radio stations are just awful.

Mine has a 6.1" touchscreen Pioneer but not the ugly Bespoke one.

OR, stop in at your local Best Buy and ask a geek squad guy ....;)

I use a portable XM unit that is plugged into the audio input jack and powered by the 12V jack in the cupholder area. I use a short 2' XM antenna that I place in the coin tray. An insert was placed into the coin tray with a thin peice of metal behind it for the antenna magnet to stick to. I have an arm-rest that covers tbe portable XM Radio, dock and power to make it less visible.

been there....done that.
I just went thru this this week with my 2014 with the base touchscreen headunit. Local stereo place couldn't get their Sirius kit to work with it....headunit just didn't have a way for a satellite input to work.
So I took it to the dealer, they said they had a kit (looked just the the pieces that the stereo place had) that they said some other dealerships had gotten to work. After a day's work... no-go. Dealership ended up contacting the place that had told them it would work and...oh, sorry, we were wrong....the base touchscreen unit on the 2014 frs will not accept a satellite input. End of story. Just will not work with this unit. Oh, they could put in a 2013 frs unit (non-touchscreen) that would take satellite, but it would still cost $400 for the kit and about $300 for installation. Or they could install a BeSpoke (big $). For less than that price I can get an aftermarket Pioneer that will work with satellite. So now I'm left with either doing without, adding a satellite antenna and hooking my old Sirius Starmate into the aux plug, or getting an aftermarket headunit. Can't understand why they would upgrade the headunit from '13 to a touchscreen for '14, but downgrade the flexibility of it to accept satellite. Stupid. |
I used a vais tech sound lin q3 sl3 sat adapter and a v200 seriusxm unit, total job about 300, hardest part was configuration of the vais emulator, just read the instructions fully. Stock 2013 pioneer hu
