FXT's engine looks nice, any chance that deal can modify our engines into FA20DIT? That would be awesome.

No.

If you could convince a dealer to put a non stock engine the car, the engine would be around 5k and a dealer would probably charge at least 1k in labor and that you would end up with the power of a stock forester.

^^ what he said. The FA20DIT is a sweet engine though.

Honestly, that sounds way low for an engine swap to me, especially given the amount of custom work required. I'd guess it'd be quite a bit more than that.

Same, plus if you were going to go to all that trouble you should at least put something interesting in. I'm still waiting to see the first flat six swap :)

I thought someone had already done an EZ30 swap...

10k+ (parts, dealer labor) for 220 ish whp

Your parents should slap you for suggesting something so stupid.

... and you're worried about lights in the cabin?

I was thinking more along these lines: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-BOXSTER...-/271349819404

Really though, I wonder if it would be possible to cram some kind of Porsche flat six into a BRZ. Sounds like you could buy a whole Boxster for the price of this Forester motor...

That would be pretty awesome - I'd love to see a Porsche flat 6 crammed under the hood of a brz sometime...

So would I. Some more power, a lot more torque, keeps the instant throttle response and makes that Stuttgart howling sound? Yes please.

Really though, I don't think I'd try an engine swap in this car. That Litchfield supercharger kit is sort of tempting though.

Soooo it would seem you got yourself the wrong car. Not all is lost though.

Simplest and cheapest way to get a car more focused on acceleration:

1. Sell current slow car
2. Lease better accelerating car

Enjoy you new car and in a couple of years when they inevitably add some starch to the FT86s (right about when your lease will be up) you can come back and get one if you still dig them.
