NJ Motorsports 86cup
I'm trying to set up some sort of 86 cup on the east coast similar to the one that is being hosted on the west coast any help would be appreciated.

Feel free to adapt the ruleset as you see fit!
You'll need some volunteer staff for internal logistics, writeups, graphics, etc. If I can get a logo designed, you're more than welcome to use it. You'll also want to find an organization (or organizations) to host your events, and come up with a logical schedule for the year. Last but not least, sponsors for prizes and/or trophies/plaques is always fun :) I'll admit I have a bit if an advantage, since I also organize and participate in another one-make community driven series. Oh, and for those that are wondering, the series are non-profit, but you should get some negotiating power for lower entry prices if you have a consistent turnout :) I'd recommend you get a few volunteer board members first who can assist with logistics, and then schedule a conference call with me. |
There is also a new track being built in New England in CT. Thompson Speedway Road Course if you are looking for other locations!

Guys this is a great idea but here on the east coast we don't have any caged or very few caged FRS/BRZs. I've been involved in racing with NASA and organizing with NASA since 2001. AZP actually held a Subaru specific track day last year and it was great. I had a professional coach there who is also a Grand Am driver as well as instructors for each driver. It's a pretty big undertaking to put on an event. Let me know if you want some help, my guess is that these cars won't be ready for a spec series for another 5 years when the used price drops down a bit.

Oh it's not a wheel to wheel series.
A bit easier to implement, we could implement this in the NASA TT regulations, although anyone competing even on the TT level would need to have some significant HPDE experience to be safe out there. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/153798190.jpg Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Enthusiasts since 2001. I would love to see something like this happen on the east cost.I would be the first one to race!!!
|
I think it might be better to have a "driving school" than a cup race. I bet there are a brunch of novices who really want to test their cars out instead of crash their cars.
But neither sounds good to me. Good luck |
i would be there in a heartbeat to see an event like this close to home.
|
I'd be down for a HPDE track day!

86 time attack? not willing to trade paint lol
