South Bay Subaru Mechanics

Hi Team,

Have any of you had good experiences with Southbay Subaru specific mechanics? I would like to find a solution more convenient than a dealer.

I'm located in Los Gatos

Would Edge Motorworks in Mountain View be out of the question? They started off as BMW and Mini specialists, but have expanded their services to Subarus. I've taken my old E36 M3 their for service and found them to be pretty good. I met with Gordon, one of the shop owners, and he owns a LR BRZ that he tracks.

I used to work down the street from Edge, so I had them do my wheels and tires when I got my Enkeis. Found them to be very knowledgable, easy to deal with, and great prices. Though I can't say what they are like for services besides tire mounting.

It's not in the south bay, but if I need to take my car to someone I take it to RBMS Autocare in Hayward. It's run by Mert and he's been working on Subarus for years now and used to be the main mechanic at GST Motorsports.

100K warranty = dealer serivce. Why pay for something you can get for free?

And if you're talking about oil changes and simple stuff that's what your driveway is for.

My buddy takes his 2013 WRX to Garage 1 in Mountain View, and has nothing but good things to say about them. They also have a spot in San Jose, but I don't know anyone who's gone there, so I can't say anything either way.

I had a poor experience with them in San Jose with my moms 05 outback. I ended up spending over $1k and didn't get what I needed to be fixed, fixed. They told me it was something else then after selling me $1k in parts and labor they said "oh yeah the thing you said was is wrong was actually the problem, that'll be another $1.5k"
