doing donuts for the first time
 

it was quite fun, until i started feeling sick

it was good to see how the car would handle in all the snow we got......and i have to say, that i absolutely love this car

It is fun isn't it. Why did we ever start driving FWD cars? As you get comfortable you'll start drifting big circles faster and faster. Just give yourself plenty of spinout room. Poles and curbs can ruin the fun. One rainy day I was messing around in a freshly sealed parking lot. It was easy to get sliding on that smooth wet surface. I had a big 2nd gear drift circle going and I lost it. Spun 1-1/2 times before we came to a stop. I was very surprised how far we had traveled while spinning. There was nothing there to hit but made me recalibrate my comfort zones. Keep having fun, and don't be afraid to push your limit, just give yourself plenty of whoops room.

Nextg time do them in the dry! As large circles as you can, they get more fun the bigger they are! :)

i wanted to go to a larger parking lot but it was being plowed, so i had to go to the smaller one, and the two poles and the close curb were making me nervous....especially since i've never done this

it is something i wanna do again

Fun is want it's all about. Snow donuts don't tear your tires up, and you don't have to rev to the moon to maintain the drift. That's what makes 'em so much fun. Church are letting out now. I'm grabbing my keys and going to go do some snow donuts of my own.

Yeah, try it yourself before you get too cocky.

Those light poles come at you pretty quickly in those conditions, and you can't avoid them by just putting on the brakes either, like you can on warm dry asphalt.

To go much faster you need more unobstructed space.

Try a handbrake turn or two also, very useful tool is the handbrake in winter. Best to practice where it doesn't matter if you overdo it. Easy to go too far around on snow or ice.

So easy in fact it is easy to do snow donuts with fwd using the handbrake, throttle and steering.

i did a set of 2 uncontrolled donuts recently, not on purpose. I accidentally goosed the throttle while making a turn in a big parking lot. Scared the shit outta me.

I haven't done any donuts in my FRS yet. :-(

My best donut memory is the first winter my wife was driving in Ottawa and she had an older LTD that she was not used to. I took her to a large parking lot to practice donuts so that she would get the feel for the rear end sliding.

When she finally got up to speed and started the slide we had a wave of snow going over the roof of the car. Nothing like a foot of powder.

They usually have huge parking lots, which are empty on weekend

I had fun in the snow this weekend as well... however another tip when using a parking lot, I tend to drive the entire lot first to make sure there is no unexpected surprises laying around like large potholes, concrete parking stops, debris etc which cant be seen in the sea of white while its snowing and you are doing donuts. Fun car for sure, I have missed RWD so much.
