Sti brembo with hawk hps pads ... So scary on a cold and wet days !!
 

I have the sti brembo brakes upgrade with a brand new hawks hps pads .

On the dry cold days , they're performs very well, but on the cold and wet days, raining and snow or even after the car wash , I can hardly stop !!

Any suggestion on the a better brake pads especially on the cold and wet days ?

I was thinking about the project MU , but open for a suggestions.

I just happened to google them up , and found the same situation about the pads doesn't have the initial bite on wet and cold days on the other forum .

Oem brembo pads are pretty penny :(

I had a similar problem with my 6 piston baer breaks on my cobra. Bedded them correctly, but the first hit would be a bit scary, then all was good. I wonder why

HPS are the worst freaking pads ever. OEM pads or even parts store Duralast Gold are better.

hm i use to run hps on my civic then hp+ never had that problem for years. stock calipers.. my frs i run stoptech for summer. stock for winter

I'm pretty sure I bed them right , as they works wonderfully on the dry even cold dry days , but once they get wet on cold ....no initial bites , pulling left and right then works After I pumped the pedal.

Okay , been reading the net about the hawk hps ... A lot of similar complains .

Down to the final options :

Would you rather get the stoptech street performance composite pads or akebono ceramics oem specs ?

bought the akebono ceramic last night, let see how they performs on the wet and cold days ...

If the HPS' are really that bad, they're entirely useless! They don't offer much bite over stock and don't take much more heat, at least the stock pads work in the cold/wet!

My Ferodo's (ds2500) worked great even at around -2 in the rain. I only pulled them for the winter because they squeal A LOT more in the cold (they're mostly silent in the summer), and I don't need extra heat capacity in the winter so I might as well run cheaper stock pads while the snow tires are on.

I ran stoptech pads on my sti w/o issue. But the fedoro ds2500 are great spirited driving pads if you wanna fork over the money

I was going to get the stoptech , but I opted for the ceramic akebono for the less dust.

I'll be receiving the pads in a couple of days , let see if they will works just like the stock brz or better ... , if not I'll be getting those stoptech or ferodo2500.

I'm not really picky :), I do like how the hps works on the dry warm days tho for a dd

@Vten: I decided having dedicated pads were better than a best of both worlds approach. I'm content with my Project Mu NS400 pads for street driving and recently switched over to Project Mu Club Racer RC09 pads for track duty. They both perform admirably for their intended purpose.
