Are you going to run an intake or just go with the filter on the turbo? I know I have seen tests on previous cars where drawing air in from that close to the turbo versus some cool air in the bumper can make a considerable difference.

At least initially will be only the filter directly at turbo and go from there

I love the look of the big cone hanging off the turbo. Don't know why really but I always have.

Sportsguy83 01-22-2014 04:25 PM

The car started up last night for the first time :happyanim:

Will try to get a video today of it running.

Update: So long story short, dyno tune could not be completed because the Fuel Pump decided to take a dump. It would lean out to 14 AFR's above 6K RPMs. I am looking now at what options besides 265 pump are available.

Preliminary rough numbers where a few runs with 8 degrees of timing (each degree accounts for 10-20 WHP and final timing with E85 should be around 20) and revving it up to 6.5K RPMs the car made 293 WHP.

Doing the math it means the car should make 450 whp smoothly.

Also the GTX30 being laggy is a myth full boost was IIRC 4300 RPM's (My AVO kit saw full boost at 16 psi at 4200 RPMs).
@jamesm was tuning and will complete the Tune. Can't say enough good things about him.

The full story about all that happened is here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...postcount=1632

But you have a return system (I think), so I don't know if the 265 will be enough to keep AFR's in the 11's without a return system. I am looking hard at FBM 340 lph

Such a shame we couldn't finish it up. It'll be a beast once the pump is sorted though!

@SmsAlSuwaidi is correct. I also have no cats. Only two things to quiet it down is a magnaflow inline muffler (probably a 5" round in the frontpipe) and the muffler in the back is a freaking unicorn sauce from KAB

Ahhhh I love having no cats as well. Thought my car would be loud as hell but love the sound. Love the sound of your spool, sexy.

Nameless, or custom are the only full true 3"s .

Id opt for custom because turn around times with nameless might be to long (1month+)

I was lucky enough to pick up @FR-S Matt 3" system

this is exactly the best design in turbo choice for the twins Maperformance's is similar. cant wait for results!

charged86 01-27-2014 09:32 PM

totally simplifies the piping orientation

jamesm 01-27-2014 09:38 PM

it's the best piping layout i've ever seen. i was seriously blown away by it. the spool is unbelievable. and this is coming from a rev works fanboy lol. if i had it to do over i'd do something very similar.

Dyno tuning has started for my KAB Customs ( @KAB-FRS ) turbo kit. @jamesm spent a good amount of time dialing it in. Still a work in progress, but looking good nonetheless!! 317 WHP/ 232 WTQ on 93 Pumpgas, Only 10.5 PSI. When the dip is tuned out (some fuel adjustments needed but ran out of time in the Dyno), I expect to be between 330-340 on pumpgas.

Dyno AFR reading is off by more than a point, disregard it.
