Florida trip....

Hey guys!!! Quick question. I'm Planning on going to Florida by the end of the month. I live in pa so the trip is about 1100 miles.. I can rent a car for 500 dollars the whole week and put the miles on that car. But I kinda wanna take my car. Currently only have 2700 miles on the car. What are your opinions, take my car or rent a Nissan altima coupe??? Thanks!!!

Take your 86. I drove to Disneyworld for a family vacation and back (to Ohio) a couple months back, it was fun. Made the return trip in 13 hours and 30-ish minutes, good times.

Fly to Florida and rent from FOX rent a car. Really cheap rates. FOX only has a few locations in Fla. right now but they are growing. They started on the west coast and I rented a Chrysler 300 for 10 days and picked it up in San Fransisco and dropped it in Vegas and paid a little over $500 for the whole time.

Check Southwest for airfare. If you're not going too soon, you might catch a deal. Wednesday is the best day to shop for deals. My wife and I flew last September (2012) for $59 each way to Ft. Lauderdale from BWI.

Yeah I saw that website they are pretty expensive they were charging me 700 for a mustang convertible. I'm only 20 and couldn't find any cheap flights but will check this Wednesday for prices!!!

Well, yeah the Mustang Convertible is a higher rental. Of course the closer you get to leaving the air flight is going to be more expensive. If you're not going for a month or 2, you should be able to find a deal. Go to Southwest's website and sign up for their e-mail notices. I only get one or 2 a month, it's not a daily bombardment. Not sure where in Pa. you are but BWI is one of their 'hub' locations so if you can drive there it might be worth it. I think economy parking is $7 or $8 a day.

I rented a Fusion last February for a week for under $200, unlimited mileage. You don't need to buy all the extra insurance because your current insurance should cover you. (Check with them before you go) I know I have Allstate and they do.

Since you're not planning to enjoy the car by avoiding the freeways, why put empty interstate miles on your car?

I'd shop around for a cheaper rental...

Take the 86 for sure.

Blue Ridge Parkway awaits ;)

What? No.... Unless you are in 3rd gear red lining all the way it will be fine. I've had many vehicles far less new, advanced that have driven 50 hrs straight without issue. Time is never a factor how the car is abused during that time is..

You'll be fine as long as you're not pushing the car throughout the entire trip.

I'm sure you'll be pulling over for food at some point, or whatever, give the car half an hour's rest every few hours if you're that worried.
