Best wheel size for performance?

Hi,

Not sure if this has already been asked (tried searching and haven't find anything), but any idea what is the best wheel size for the 86/BRZ in terms of performance?

Currently don't have one but just want to do some advance studying!

bkblitzed 12-13-2013 02:49 AM

eh just get the lightest one lol

So going up 18s won't have any effect in performance as long as it's lighter than stock ones?

Try to stay along stock lines as possible. If you want more cornering grip get some wider wheels. The lighter the better but that won't make that much of an impact on performance. Once you go up to 18, you will make car start accelerating a bit slower.

If you don't plan for big brakes, this is a real performance wheel, and it comes in a specially made size for the 86/BRZ, at a very good price.

For handling performance, I'd go with 17x8.5 or 9 with 245/40-17 tires. Tire choice will be far more important than wheel or tire size, btw...

tires tires tires!

Watch this video (gotta love best motoring). I don't understand Japanese and there is no caption on this video, but you'll get it as you watch. They measure the lap time with one modification at a time and show which mod affects the lap time the most.

@Anthonytpt huh?

Tires should match wjeels suspension brakes and power. What works best on a stock car is different than what is best for a turbo monster.

1. You can't understand most of it.
2. It's worth watching for the track video and the cute smiley girl.
3. They show lap times w/ progressive mods.

Stock - 1:10.851
W/ DL Direzza Z1 255-35/18 (no idea what wheels) - 1:08.642
W/ Coilovers (maybe other things I didn't understand) - 1:08.211
W/ Exhaust, weight reduction of interior parts, dyno tune - 1:07.172
No idea what the last one is that they are all giddy about but it's - 1:10.833
