Vortech SC + Crickets + Da fuq

Well after 6 glorious months with the SC kit and zero issues,today i noticed some crickets coming from the engine bay, not sure if is the blower or the belt or something to do with the cold weather, i called Vortech spoke with "Mariano" long story short he said to take it to a shop and find out where the issue is coming from, basically spend more money on top of the $5k i spent on the kit, sure why not? i shit money for a living anyways, so if we find out something is wrong with the kit would i get a refund on what i spent on the shop? Well Mariano said no "no labor cost is refunded" So basically if i have a faulty part that came with the kit im not entitled for a refund on what i spent on the body shop trying to figure out what wrong with the $5k system? seems fair alright..... :w00t:

Also note that the sound does not go away after a while of driving, it stops at idle but when accelerating it keeps singing, pretty annoying

Im hoping is something to do with the High pressure fuel pump so subaru could replace that

Anyways, check the videos let me know what you guys/girls think :thumbup:

Using headphones and HD will enhanced the crickets better.

It could be the blower unit or another pulley in the system. A mechanics stethoscope could help diagnose

Pretty sure that is one of the idler pulleys. You can swap to either the Gates idler pulleys or Racseng ones which will clear it up. We are running gates ones on our car which cleared up the noises we had.

Yeah vortech mentioned to use stethoscope or take it to a shop. not sure which shop i can take it to, because here in Oklahoma we dont have many shops, i might take it to Subaru dealer and see if they can tell me whats the deal

Crickets = Normal

Votech Sound = Not sure, should post in Forced Induction section and let other Vortech owners weigh in. You do know that Vortech doesn't like it's owners running the blower in colder temps and it voids your warranty on the blower right? @nelsmar @DJCarbine @Dezoris @Foobar @charged86

Changing this wont make any difference on my ecu mapping for the sc kit?

Also is this something subaru could cover with out blaming the kit?

Lol love it..

Vortech needs a slap in the face if they really said that about the blower in cold weather, that just laughable, its like 39 degrees here not -30

InvalidJohnny5 12-12-2013 06:47 PM

Should have bought a turbo like myself...turbos love the cold.

spitfire481 12-12-2013 07:12 PM

Hopefully people don't have the bearing and seal issues I had on my old VW vortech v9 blower kit. Sounded just like yours when the bearings were on the way out. Reason I sold it and turboed that car
