Definitely.
No need to see the mule over and over again. I am waiting for an actual photo of the car - no camo - no rendering.

I only hear tire noise and some induction sound. Kind of disappointing that it sounds more like a 3-series than a M3. They'll probably pump noise through the speakers.

Even the 4-cylinder Cayman running with it sounds better.

Not sure if this has been mentioned....

The New Supra Will Be Sold Under Toyota's Gazoo Racing Brand

Quote:

According to a report from Autocar, the upcoming Toyota Supra remake will be sold under the Japanese automaker's recently-launched performance sub-brand Gazoo Racing, or GR for short.

gymratter 11-08-2017 12:01 AM

the people over at SupraMKV said it will look like this.

TRD branding in the US and Gazoo Racing outside US.

funwheeldrive 11-09-2017 09:22 AM

GR as a brand seems like a huge mistake, especially considering they just killed Scion. It reminds me of how Dodge tried to rebrand their trucks as Rams. Tacky.

Summerwolf 11-09-2017 11:04 AM

Also Gazoo sounds really ridiculous when said out loud.

Like.... seriously call your insurance agency and say "I have a Gazoo Supra."

gymratter 11-09-2017 12:17 PM

im pretty sure it just means that the car will be tune by Gazoo, and not that we are getting a Gazoo Supra. we have also already seen a Toyota logo on the steering wheel.

https://www.autocar.co.uk/opinion/mo...k-gazoo-anyway

Long story short, Toyota wanted to make a website to sell cars that uses pictures back in the early days of the Internet. Pictures or images translate to Gazo in Japanese so they called it Gazoo.com. Somehow it evolved into what it is now as in a garage with a variety or "images" of sport cars.

Is it a stupid name? Yes. So I'll stick with calling it "Gee-Ar" for now.

When the hell are they pulling the wraps off this thing? Feels like the camo shots came out years ago.

It's not at the L.A. show, as many of us thought it would have to be since it didn't appear at Tokyo.

Next opportunities are:

Detroit is Jan. 20
Geneva is Mar 8 (My $$$ is here with a launch under the 'Gazoo' subbrand - Toyota or TRD in NA, obviously. But they won't show the NA version until closer to launch in Fall 2018, I bet)
New York is Mar 30

If it doesn't appear at any of these, well, who the hell knows what is going on.

gymratter 11-30-2017 07:24 PM

supposedly a near production concept was shown to dealers yesterday.

http://www.supramkv.com/threads/detr...on.661/page-15

mazeroni 12-01-2017 01:08 AM

The guy in that thread also said the car they were shown Is closer to this render. Said he was disappointed, because hype train. Assuming he isn't full of shit.

http://www.supramkv.com/attachments/...1fc-jpeg.4798/

Another guys says 340 hp, engine unknown, and under 2900 lbs.

Sport-Tech 12-01-2017 11:19 AM

According to the guy on supramkv who has insider contacts and appears to be something of an insider himself, what was shown in Europe was a prototype - the final designs for the front and rear fascias have not been chosen yet.

He claims to have seen the final figures for weight and dimensions, and he's the one who states the car is under 2900 lbs and is smaller than some are expecting. Ironic - a while back I was called out for "trolling" here for arguing the car could come in at around 3100 lbs rather than 3300-3400.

Of course if Toyota has to use a lot of expensive materials to get the weight that low the car is probably going to cost as much as a Vette.

BRX 12-01-2017 11:33 AM

I don't know why people assume the GRMN/TRD edition is gonna have more power. All TRD models of every Toyota vehicle in the past decade had only cosmetic and suspension upgrades.

Kids Heart 12-01-2017 11:42 AM

shorter/wider than the GT86, 2 seater, expensive.

mazeroni 12-01-2017 12:01 PM

It's definitely small

http://www.supramkv.com/attachments/...36_n-jpg.3702/

We've already determined it isn't much bigger than a Twin.

With more aluminum, smarter use of high strength steel, and a lack of rear seat you would greatly offset any weight gains from the heavier powertrain and sound deadening.

I don't think 2900 lbs ist some impossible number.

Don't forget our flat 4 is actually pretty damn heavy because of it's design. Vorshlag threw a V8 and a tremec transmission in and only gained 50 lbs

So it's power train could easily be lighter. And only needing to handle 340 hp the transmission could be light as well

Tt3Sheppard 12-02-2017 10:44 AM

This thing is going to be stupid expensive.

gymratter 12-02-2017 03:08 PM

yeah it doesn't look that big at all. this rendering was made to match the spy shots.

This is what I’m waiting to see... I think they’ll create a good car then price it stupidly.
