Nobody knows what the Mirai is.

The BMW/Toyota sports car collab is likely in the $60k-$90k price range, competitive with Corvette, GTR, base 911, etc. Safe money is on it featuring a hybrid powertrain.

The words 'Supra successor' have only been thrown about by press and fans, it may not apply to the Mirai OR the Toyota/BMW collaboration.

I guess you're saying to collaboration will be a Lexus LF-LS? I admit ignorance about the Lexus lineup, I never bothered to pay attention and I never implied it would be an 'LFA2', only that the BMW collaboration is likely this Mirai concept.

Hey all, ok so just wanted to clear the air — we received the info on the Mirai at the end of 2013 from a reputable source that's about right 99% of the time when it comes to leaks and such, thus the gallery with a PLACEHOLDER image (not an actual teaser). We also wrote an article with the trademark mentioned as well.

Anyways, we'll be in Detroit so whatever this new thing is we'll have live coverage of it. I'll keep you guys up to date if we get anything new. http://news.boldride.com/2014/01/toy...e-works/42220/ :party0030:

Yeah sorry about that. I already tried to explaining that already :)

Sorry again about the confusion :(

I seem to recall a post claiming that the BMW/Toyota collaboration was NOT a Supra but can't seem to find it. Which I was taking to mean that the Mirai is either BMW/Toyota or Supra, not both and possibly neither. But since I can't find the article guess I'm the crazy one :bonk:

No not this thread

This thread :p

No worries, just want to keep you guys informed on this. I'm as excited as everyone else is. And if you guys want to take a look, here's our take on a Lexus LF-LC-based Supra for 2015 (shameless plug :iono: ) http://www.boldride.com/ride/2015/toyota-supra-concept

Tada!

Whitigir 01-11-2014 09:34 AM

The white one is more production ready. The black one is more like a high class show case car, which is bred betweer 86 and LFA, which LFA is the brother of 86, which they are incest.

So black one is not possible.

White one ? Look close, but the side profile is a bit dumb.

Thanks for sharing

I also think it is the Q50. Shape and color looks very probable, on the other hand overall design is more of Toyota style if to look at FT-86 Concept. Well, we don't know what color the Mirai will be.

Edit: No it is not the Q50 ER. The tires are different.

I'm still pissed that Toyota went with a BMW motor. Should've made a 3jz.

Toyota Teases Detroit Auto Show Debut; Watch it Live Streaming

What exactly is Toyota planning to debut at the Detroit Auto Show? Be the first to find out.

With nearly every auto show “surprise” leaking out ahead of the big day, Toyota is one of the few keeping their secret… a secret.

And with rumors that a new Supra (or at least a new Celica) is set to make its debut, one thing is certain: if Toyota isn’t talking (and isn’t sharing embargoed information), this reveal is a big one!

Join us (and the rest of the world) when we find out exactly what Toyota has inside that big red box by watching the live stream of the reveal (below) this Monday, January 13th at 8:50 a.m. Eastern.

Well, I think not, because the tires are not the same. Even Color does not look the same and design does not fit with actual rear bumper.
http://www.houseofjapan.com/images/2...onceptgal5.jpg

I doubt it is the Supra/Miari either, as I would expect a more aggressive diffusor.

It could rather be the Kia GT4 Stinger. Also looks similar to Kia Provo.

http://www.technologicvehicles.com/C...brid%20(2).jpg

That is what I place my bet on. Kia clearly goes against the GT86, so they took the same color as FT-86 Concept. Kia is known for copying, they copied the Ferrari F12 foglight. Till now they released 2 teasers. Maybe this is their third. I think the car in the teaser is the Kia GT4 Stinger Concept.

Here is the Kia GT Concept for comparision.

Correct, color is not red but orange.

As we have the tyres as the only indicator, the car on the teaser seems to have Pirelli P Zero Nero GT tyres.

They are performance tires, but does Toyota use them?

As @vh_supra26 said, the GranTurismo Concept could be the racing version of Mirai. What we do no know is what the stage of the concept is. If it is like the FT-86, early design and conception stage, or is it already close to prototyping and production tooling.

Who ever is designing head/tail lights at Toyota should really look for a new career.

"Concept"

Plus, the taillights remind me of the old Supra.

I like it.
Interesting they used the GT86 concept wheels again.

Guess on how much it will cost? Probably $50k+

n2oinferno 01-12-2014 06:44 PM

Yeah, that definitely looks like a mediocre photoshop based on the original Five Axis FRS concept. Same headlights, same wheels, same vehicle positioning. Shitty color change, look at how horrible the artifacting is when they desaturated the red and went to black.

In fact if you look at where that picture came from, here: http://www.boldride.com/ride/2015/toyota-supra-concept You can see that they tried to cut out the "property of boldride.com" watermarks in the picture as well.

headlikeahole 01-12-2014 06:52 PM

Thank god this isn't legit.

Want.FR-S 01-12-2014 06:57 PM

If I may just add: this is a composition of several cars: from the LFA-like bumper, the FRS Concept front hood, head light, and wheel, the FRS concept body with some flings, and the FT-86 MK II (Geneva model) on the back with some other blings. Look like chopped.

husker741 01-12-2014 07:39 PM

Well I like it, but too bad it does seem to be a fake.

Ric0 01-12-2014 07:42 PM

I like it... Toyota really needs to bring that back, if Nissan can do it with the GT-R so should Toyota.

maiaramdan 01-12-2014 10:09 PM

Yes

Which means it maybe around also the same hp which equals 400hp

Abort.

FiRStsc10n 01-13-2014 12:14 AM

It's a photoshop mash up between the Lexus LF-LC (rear, sides, windows, front), LFA lower grill, And FR-S concept (Five Axis rims & headlights), and a Celica wing, nothing more. It still has the background from the image below.

don't worry they will not F this up. The supra has been such a kool kid car they cannot afford to fail. Also have you seen our old concepts it looks nothing like what came out in production. Same thing about the wrx.

OICU812 01-13-2014 01:35 AM

Well Detroit show starts tomorrow, by end of week we'll all know if there is anything real or if this is all BS...

Toyota FT-1 Concept Car

The Toyota FT-1 concept is a pure performance, track-focused sports car model created by CALTY Design Research, Toyota's North American Design branch. The FT-1 concept is a symbol that captures elements of the emotion and energy we can expect to see in future Toyota vehicle designs. Its design is heavily influenced by Toyota's long sports car tradition that includes vehicles such as 2000GT, Celica, Supra and most recently, FT-86 (Scion F-RS)
