Besides, the next gen FRS is rumored to have an I4 hybrid system. So why would you have the same drivetrain in your flagship model? On a different note... I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bigger 'FRS' with more power. Also pretty sure it will be the Toyota/BMW joint project car. And if that's the case than its been confirmed a new platform will be used. |

I would never believe the next gen FRS to be hybrid driven. That cost ways too much for the twin to produce and to sell. Not to mention the battery and motors will mess with weight distribution. Toyota would not be as stupid to completely engineer a new platform, then mess it up, or design another under the same name after one cycle, where the profit has not racked up enough. Beside, why would you kill it while it is proven a success ? Even at the twin price now, it is still costly, and that is where Toyota disagree with Subaru. If you have a solid source, link it to me. |
Pretty sure the second one is a TRD 86.
|
I see a mixture of the vette front end and the twins rooflines. I like what I see so far
|
Is this gonna be the Supra concept? Heard Toyota is gonna bring a Supra concept to Detroit auto show.
|
Rumor is it will be a sorts car that's production ready for the 2016 MY! (fall or summer 2015 release) Higher than the FR-S and wearing a Toyota badge.

Calling it now, Toyota/BMW collab, not branded as Supra.
Edit: Really I'm the only one in this thread? |

can you link to that thread, I'd like to follow the reactions after the unveil Could this be the Z06? Those look like Vette headlights. http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2014-...photo-1287147/ |
Picture looks more like a Lotus Elise....look at the roof, mirrors, and "bonnet" detail...

Turned up the levels to see if any more detail was there, and a good bit was hidden. Looks awfully similar to a Vette.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...ing-to-Detroit The photo is a Detroit Electric concept. But I will update the thread with new photos and info of the Toyota sports car once it becomes available. http://green.autoblog.com/2013/03/19...ts-car-teaser/ |
Nice, I'm going again this year too.. If Toyota really releases something..
Thought that concept was the Z06, but maybe not. |
Is this the Supra ?
|
Toyota just released photos, press release, and videos of the RC-F.
I think they're going to make us wait a little longer for the new Toyota sports concept. Detroit is only a few days away :D |
mr2!
|
Sure that's not just a modded up 86 or a vette? And I would love it if it was a MR2 or a supra, Miria means future so a Toyota Future what are you :) how exciting
|
Guys, don't want to disappoint you (me myself am disapointed), but this is just a Toyota rebadged Lotus Elise/Exige, at the end Lotus uses Toyota engines.
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rj7NeBBVWo...Front+View.jpg Toyota's MR2? Well, the Supra must be the GT6 Concept. Might be presented at Tokyo Motor Show. |
No, I thought I already address this. That teaser photo is NOT for any Toyota concept.
It was just a "place holder" photo that Bold Ride uses until official photos appear. Again, sorry about the confusion guys. |

Ok, so this is the car in teaser. Not the Mirai.
http://green.autoblog.com/2013/03/19...ts-car-teaser/ Let us wait for more info on the Mirai and the RC-F (specs). :) |
Based on the info provided....the names sounds cool.

For the people that don't know Mirai means future in Japanese.
|
Oh, I can't wait. This is the most exciting car for me. I'm experiencing the same anticipation as 4 years ago with the Toyota FT-86. I just hope this car is meant to be light and not as heavy as the RC-F. Wonder how heavy the NSX will be.

The Toyota/BMW sports car CONCEPT will be at this years Detroit Auto Show!!
My step-father is pretty high up at Toyota Corporate in Torrance, CA. He said, he was informed that the first concept version of the Toyota/BMW Sports car will be debuted at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit (Starting this monday 1/13). There will be very few details if any on the vehicle and is scheduled to be a 2018 or 2019 production model.
Let's hope this is true!! Ill post pics when they become available :party0030: |
It feels like every time I see a thread or post like this. They,
-Have a family member or friend that works with Toyota that's "High up" -Is a dealer, that went to a secret meeting -Found this news on some random website -Just making up BS |
I guess we'll know on Monday.

I seem to recall a post claiming that the BMW/Toyota collaboration was NOT a Supra but can't seem to find it. Which I was taking to mean that the Mirai is either BMW/Toyota or Supra, not both and possibly neither. But since I can't find the article guess I'm the crazy one :bonk: |

Hey all, ok so just wanted to clear the air — we received the info on the Mirai at the end of 2013 from a reputable source that's about right 99% of the time when it comes to leaks and such, thus the gallery with a PLACEHOLDER image (not an actual teaser). We also wrote an article with the trademark mentioned as well.
Anyways, we'll be in Detroit so whatever this new thing is we'll have live coverage of it. I'll keep you guys up to date if we get anything new. http://news.boldride.com/2014/01/toy...e-works/42220/ :party0030: |
