Though instead of the V6. They could do turbo 4 for maximize efficiency plus hybrid motors. Gasoline engine weak point is off the line torque. They waste a lot of gas to move the car. Which can easily be moved by electric motors. Their strong point is high HP once the car is moving, together with a good turbo.

Inline 4 will be smaller, less weigh, and simpler to work on. Also open the gate to after market for both high performance electric motors, regenerative brake parts, more powerful super capacitors, and turbos.....

It will be a legendary vehicle once again, and it will take people 20 years into the future to totally cap out the vehicle capabilities

An I4 'Supra' just doesn't sounds right. A Toyota flagship sports car needs at least a V6 or BMW's I6.

Besides, the next gen FRS is rumored to have an I4 hybrid system. So why would you have the same drivetrain in your flagship model?

On a different note...

I hope this doesn't turn out to be a bigger 'FRS' with more power. Also pretty sure it will be the Toyota/BMW joint project car. And if that's the case than its been confirmed a new platform will be used.

I would never believe the next gen FRS to be hybrid driven. That cost ways too much for the twin to produce and to sell. Not to mention the battery and motors will mess with weight distribution.

Toyota would not be as stupid to completely engineer a new platform, then mess it up, or design another under the same name after one cycle, where the profit has not racked up enough. Beside, why would you kill it while it is proven a success ?

Even at the twin price now, it is still costly, and that is where Toyota disagree with Subaru.

If you have a solid source, link it to me.

Taro 01-05-2014 08:27 PM

Pretty sure the second one is a TRD 86.

bakerr6 01-07-2014 11:30 PM

I see a mixture of the vette front end and the twins rooflines. I like what I see so far

DIM 01-07-2014 11:38 PM

Is this gonna be the Supra concept? Heard Toyota is gonna bring a Supra concept to Detroit auto show.

quasi86 01-08-2014 12:22 AM

Rumor is it will be a sorts car that's production ready for the 2016 MY! (fall or summer 2015 release) Higher than the FR-S and wearing a Toyota badge.

Calling it now, Toyota/BMW collab, not branded as Supra.

Edit: Really I'm the only one in this thread?

Could this be the Z06? Those look like Vette headlights.

Vracer111 01-08-2014 01:16 AM

Picture looks more like a Lotus Elise....look at the roof, mirrors, and "bonnet" detail...

So you see a Viper.

I'm going to believe this because Toyota could simply NOT make a car this good looking.

SF... Still crushing hopes after all these years.

n2oinferno 01-08-2014 09:44 AM

Turned up the levels to see if any more detail was there, and a good bit was hidden. Looks awfully similar to a Vette.

This was my thought as well. Plus the hood is so low, it suggests mid-engine. But who knows with these "teaser" pictures.

bakerr6 01-08-2014 10:24 AM

I dunno, still looks like a vette to me (or a viper)

Yes sir, here you go.

http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...ing-to-Detroit

The photo is a Detroit Electric concept.

But I will update the thread with new photos and info of the Toyota sports car once it becomes available.

Dave-ROR 01-08-2014 02:31 PM

Nice, I'm going again this year too.. If Toyota really releases something..

Thought that concept was the Z06, but maybe not.

Whitigir 01-08-2014 02:32 PM

Is this the Supra ?

vh_supra26 01-08-2014 03:23 PM

Toyota just released photos, press release, and videos of the RC-F.

I think they're going to make us wait a little longer for the new Toyota sports concept.

Detroit is only a few days away :D

yanyan 01-08-2014 05:59 PM

mr2!

Zaku 01-08-2014 06:45 PM

Sure that's not just a modded up 86 or a vette? And I would love it if it was a MR2 or a supra, Miria means future so a Toyota Future what are you :) how exciting

Levi 01-08-2014 06:58 PM

Guys, don't want to disappoint you (me myself am disapointed), but this is just a Toyota rebadged Lotus Elise/Exige, at the end Lotus uses Toyota engines.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rj7NeBBVWo...Front+View.jpg

Toyota's MR2?

Well, the Supra must be the GT6 Concept. Might be presented at Tokyo Motor Show.

vh_supra26 01-08-2014 09:43 PM

No, I thought I already address this. That teaser photo is NOT for any Toyota concept.

It was just a "place holder" photo that Bold Ride uses until official photos appear.

Again, sorry about the confusion guys.

Is the teaser posted by Toyota? If not, then the Mirai might be the "Supra". This teaser is then the one of the Lotus Elise S Cup R.

Levi 01-09-2014 09:30 AM

Ok, so this is the car in teaser. Not the Mirai.
http://green.autoblog.com/2013/03/19...ts-car-teaser/

Let us wait for more info on the Mirai and the RC-F (specs). :)

ZetaVI 01-09-2014 09:43 AM

Based on the info provided....the names sounds cool.

Correct :)

STJ 01-09-2014 03:43 PM

For the people that don't know Mirai means future in Japanese.

Levi 01-09-2014 06:02 PM

Oh, I can't wait. This is the most exciting car for me. I'm experiencing the same anticipation as 4 years ago with the Toyota FT-86. I just hope this car is meant to be light and not as heavy as the RC-F. Wonder how heavy the NSX will be.

ThaBigUnit 01-10-2014 12:56 AM

The Toyota/BMW sports car CONCEPT will be at this years Detroit Auto Show!!

My step-father is pretty high up at Toyota Corporate in Torrance, CA. He said, he was informed that the first concept version of the Toyota/BMW Sports car will be debuted at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit (Starting this monday 1/13). There will be very few details if any on the vehicle and is scheduled to be a 2018 or 2019 production model.

Let's hope this is true!! Ill post pics when they become available :party0030:

It feels like every time I see a thread or post like this. They,

-Have a family member or friend that works with Toyota that's "High up"
-Is a dealer, that went to a secret meeting
-Found this news on some random website
-Just making up BS

Captain Stall 01-10-2014 01:04 AM

I guess we'll know on Monday.

Carlitoz3 01-10-2014 03:47 AM

You are literally the second person to post BMW in this thread with that post but ok.

I seem to recall a post claiming that the BMW/Toyota collaboration was NOT a Supra but can't seem to find it. Which I was taking to mean that the Mirai is either BMW/Toyota or Supra, not both and possibly neither. But since I can't find the article guess I'm the crazy one :bonk:

If you think it is the LFA II, it isn't either, BMW will not build any supercar/hypercar. The Lexus LF-LC is to be based on the next generation LS. The LF-LS could be the SC successor and even be called SC. I just don't see what other car BMW/Toyota would be. Next generation GT86 without Subaru? Way too early.

Jeff_BoldRide 01-10-2014 05:46 PM

Hey all, ok so just wanted to clear the air — we received the info on the Mirai at the end of 2013 from a reputable source that's about right 99% of the time when it comes to leaks and such, thus the gallery with a PLACEHOLDER image (not an actual teaser). We also wrote an article with the trademark mentioned as well.

Anyways, we'll be in Detroit so whatever this new thing is we'll have live coverage of it. I'll keep you guys up to date if we get anything new. http://news.boldride.com/2014/01/toy...e-works/42220/ :party0030:
