Show me a 3.8L that makes 450hp reliably in NA form.

Porsche 911 GT3 RS (997.2). BMW with 3.0l Turbo making only 300 PS is not reliable.

Speaking of Porsche, pretty close to that engine is the new Carrera S engine with X51 (I think it's just different cams dropped in), at 430hp NA and doesn't even need 8000rpm to do it. By some manufacturers' standards, that engine would qualify as "450hp".

Looks like the odds of Supra getting an I-6 just went up.

Unless the I6 is Toyota's new 3.5l V6 replacement, the Supra is not getting a BMW I6.

How do you know that? Is the 86 using the 2.5L from the TC??

Might want to think about how old that 3.5L V6 is with respect to it's lifecycle btw.

Old, and a very reliable engine, that is still competitive. Torque feel of turbocharged engines is deceptive. BMW will not develop any special engines (look at new M3/M4 engine). Toyota is working on new engines, with cost reduction in mind too. So we could see a new I6 by Toyota, but with BMW.

Nice sighting VH! Can't wait to see that one. About time we got an updated/different concept.

New Supra is turbo 4 + 3 electric?

That is what is coming according to Autoguide: http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2...ls-emerge.html

Is anyone going to pay $58-70K for that?

Disclaimer: I did search but did not find a reference to this article.

58k-70k? They aren't going to kill their RCF sales. It's gonna touch 100k easily. Hopefully it's just another rumor. I'd much rather see a 6 cylinder hybrid.

ciro 07-28-2014 10:59 PM

sounds like a NSX copy cat.

onefitz 07-28-2014 11:02 PM

Sounds very similar to the i8 to me.

FLD said the same thing as well...

If true, I'm a bit disappointed. But hybrid systems are very promising, though they can be a bit dull if this car doesn't handle amazing.

Levi 07-29-2014 08:27 AM

I doubt that. FT-1 is not hybrid.
