diss7's proposed turbo setup

So I used to run a supercharger, but wasn't happy with it. I look at turbo kits and I have yet to see one that ticks all the boxes for me.

I like the short IC piping of JDL and Greddy, but dont like the turbo placement.

I like the turbo placement of AVO more, and the fact it uses stock air box, but some of the bends are tight, and I'm not a fan of the turbo specs.

I really like the turbo placement of PTUNING (I like it the most) but not so much a fan of the IC piping length.

Anyway, here's the custom system I'm proposing. Turbo / heat source nice and low and out of the way. Weight and COG good. Very short IC piping. Uses stock air box.

If someone sold this as a kit, I would've already bought it. What I'm undecided on is whether I can be fucked putting this together. Buying a kit is so much less hassle. Also, I haven't even decided on a turbo. But I've narrowed it down to two, which is really down to ultimately what level I want the car to be (GTX2863R 0.86 for a solid 200kw setup, or GTX3071R for a solid 300kw setup)

Thought I'd share in the hope of getting some feedback, (and possibly motivation to go through with it)

The twin barrel PWR ic system Ive drawn I wouldn't go with. Theres a better brand I'd use to make a custom single unit.

I reckon I could make this look super stealth as well.

Bow down for my MS Paint skillz.

Reserved for progress updates

(If I ever actually go through with it)

You say the avo kit has too many tight bends for you but you are proposing a 180 degree very tight bend?

How about going wide right with the charge pipe so you could at least increase the radius?

Great idea. You've just justified why sharing this was a good idea. :thanks:
I'll have a look at this tonight after work.

Although, I don't think it will fit around the airbox/oil filter.

rusty959's suggestion. I like it. Will depend on the height available about the AC pulley cover. Certainly worth checking.

Yeah, Australians also drive on the correct side of the road ;) Notice the brake master cylinder on the left.

I really like this idea, with the exception of needing a new sway bar to clear the turbo and replacing or removing the factory strut mount to firewall braces. May I susgest you also look at accelerated performances original setup. IIRC they didn't need either of those changes but had a very similar setup for the hot pipes.

Thanks, I forgot about the AP design.

I don't like the idea of removing the bars either. I'm sure you can keep the tie bars by using the 3" inlet, and think you could possibly avoid the sway bar using the smaller compressor housing.

I'm waiting for my whiteline swaybar to arrive so I can do some mockup to confirm.

How do you feel about the FA20 kit. I'm curious as to your opinions to all of the turbo kits. I enjoy having someone post who thoroughly uses their brain on their decisions. The other people I would think are the people that say BC race car.
