FI E85 gas mileage
sorry for my third e85-related thread of the week, but i'm working on the conversion and i was wondering, what is everyone really getting for gas mileage with corn and FI? now granted i've been out tuning the whole time doing WOT runs and what not, but i'm getting like 200 miles to a tank if that. the gauge on the dash is wrong and reading as if it were 93, right? it seems to read way higher than reality and i wonder if that's why noone else is reporting 15mpg lol.

15-19MPG. About the same as a Chrysler Town and Country on 86 Octane.

oh and my guage was reading way off when tracking it manually. It was saying I was getting around 31.2, when in actuality, I was getting around 22. I like that though,a s my wife knows no different this way haha

ahhh see i knew the gauge was off. it just didn't seem right lol.

The fuel computers in cars don't actually read the volume of fuel used, they go off the actuations of the injectors. Since the injectors are supposed to flow a specific volume of fuel per actuation that is used to calculate fuel used. Larger injectors throw that out the window because they flow a larger volume per actuation. I was able to calculate it in the past based on the percentage of injector size change, but on these DI systems it's more complicated because you are only changing 4 of the 8 injectors.
And then there is the difference between e85 and standard gasoline to even throw it off further. |
I don't use the dash. I kept track of mine all summer. 20-21 avg on E85. 17 if I was beating the hell out of it.
Wait a sec, 17 avg. 20-21 if I was pretending to drive nice |
