Front Licence Plate Texas

Is it illegal to remove the front licence plate in Texas? Has anyone been pulled over for it by any police around Collin County?

it is a fine of up to $200 for no front license plate. most of the time
the officer will just give you a warning but there are plenty who will
give you a ticket. ymmv.

no idea about Collin County.

yep, i was pulled over 3 times within 6 months for no front license plate. First 2 times i was given a warning and the third time he gave me a ticket. luckily i had already ordered relocation kit for license plate 2 days before ticket so i was able to get ticket dismissed at the court after explaining what happened and taking receipts.

I may jinx myself, but I haven't had a front license plate since I purchased the car in June and I have not been pulled over for it. It is required in Texas. The law was undergoing some changes for a while but it finally got updated a few months ago and it was decided that you DO need a front license plate in Texas. I'd maybe try carrying the license plate with you in the car and if you get pulled over just show them you have it but you're waiting for your front bracket mount.

Still no front license plate, still no plans for it, still not pulled over. Car looks great without it.

Just to be the other side of the story: I got pulled over several years ago and the cop asked why I had no front plate? What was particularly odd is that I had the plate and told the cop to go look for himself. An almost identical car to mine passed me just before I was pulled over that had no plate that he was after. So to all y'all who don't think you need a plate, just remember this little story and put the damn thing on so I don't get pulled over for your middle finger to the law.

It's also cheaper in TX to register the car than it is in AZ. Here, we pay out the arse for yearly registration as cost for that is based on value of the car and not a flat rate.

I actually think the relocation kits add a bit of a sporty look to the car, and have the added benefit of removing an excuse for an officer to pull you over for. I have been pulled over twice (once by Lakeway PD and once by DPS) in my BRZ and both times they checked to see if I had my front plate installed.

No plate here,....have had the FRS over a year now.

I was told conflicting things, but I just looked it up and it's illegal. I got warnings but never tickets for it. I don't live there anymore, but I'm changing my registration to Florida anyway, so I won't be bothered by it regardless.
