6000k HID vs 4300k HID
 

I'm looking to put in HID bulbs and want a white output without the blue color..the 6000k HID bulbs are described as having a "slight" hint of blue as opposed to the 4300k HID being described as a "pure white" color. Just curious if there is going to be a noticeable difference in the 4300k HID vs the stock low beam bulbs for the fr-s? Thanks!

look for 5000k.
4300k will be like Halogen bulbs, just a bit brighter.

i personally love how my 6k HID look like. For me, there was a huge light output difference when compared to stock halogen lights!! Wouldnt go back to halogens ever again :thumbsup:

6k if you like that BMW tint of headlights. But 5k will be white.

5k is right on par with "bmw". I ordered from the retrofit source. I told them I want to look like a factory vehicle. No "spiced up" color. NOTHING. I don't want any attention I was building a car that looked stock. I was extremely hesitant as S2000's iirc come with 4300k. Which is nice quality daylight white. The 5k however has a slight hue of color, but you can only see it when side by side with an OEM 4300k. 5k is about average on BMW. Or an aged S2000. 6k will have a slight blue hue.

If you want some blue, get 6k, if you want quality light production in the visible light range get 5k. This also depends on the salt content in the bulb and a number of factors but this is a "general rule of thumb". I am 100% extremely happy with my 5k setup personally and wouldn't consider anything else. This is coming from someone that refused anything but 4300k perviously.

go for 5000K. 4300K is halogen look and 6000K is a little blue.

Im running 6000k and it perfectly matches bright white LED DRLs but in the high output of a DRL it is a very slight blue on the road.

Any, and I mean ANY, HID kit will be brighter than halogen bulbs. HOWEVER, just because it's brighter doesn't mean it's better.

If you want to look OEM with usable light (ie your eyes won't try to murder your brain when driving at night for anything longer than 10 minutes), get 4300K bulbs, bend your squirrel spotters down, and be happy with what should be "meh, decent" light output.

The color you see on OEM cars isn't coming from the bulbs, but is a function of the projectors themselves - the transition from light to dark is created by a cutoff shield which creates the color you ricers want so badly.

Sorry I gotta drive this home, but all factory HID bulbs are 4300K. You can get CBI's that are bit more white, but they aren't OEM on any car.


HID bulbs age and turn white/blue/purple as they get pretty old. Most of the color people see is from the design of the projector and it's cutoff and has nothing to do with the bulb.

Osram CBI comes factory on some Mercedes and BMW now, but generally all the bulbs from OEM are going to be 4300K. Philips 85122, Osram 66240, Koito D2S (not sure of model number).

6000K is our most popular seller and I have 6000K kits on my cars.

It matches our white LEDs really well and is a great combination of appearance and output.

4300K is the brightest in terms of output, but it's sorta stale IMO. I think 6000K looks modern and clean

But eh! It's up to the customer ultimately

Nick, in regards to the fog light bulbs you guys sell, whats the difference between the H 11 18-5050 SMD white vs the bulbs that come standard with the fog light kit? Thanks

I would go with 5k....6k looks almost blue IMO

i bought 6000k then i changed to 5000k. much better match with my brz's leds
