Possibly a Totaled BRZ

So I searched in the forum and just couldn't find my answers.

Explanation of the accident: 3 lane highway, I was in the right going about 50-55. Some PT Cruiser in the middle lane going about 40 just randomly switched lanes, no Blinker and hit the front of my car. Air Bags went off and I couldn't see anything as the chemicals from the air bags filled the car. The PT Cruiser hit a early model Cadillac and spun them around so I actually hit the Cadillac with a head to head on collision. This is what really smashed my car. Still pending police report, but the Cadillac driver has Progressive like me and I was told our stories match and the PT Cruiser should be found at fault.

So.... the car is only 6 months old with 11,000 miles. No mods besides just tinted windows. Will I be able to add value or claim that I tinted my windows for protection of the interior of the car or something?

I am hoping I get a decent amount of insurance money for my car either from my insurance company or the PT Cruisers... so I can get another BRZ. Should I look for a 13' or 14'?

Just never totaled a car before and never went through this process... I just hope I get back into a car and don't incur much extra costs.

TIA

Will

man, that sucks, our cars just cant seem to shake the curse or get a break..

Sorry to hear. If your car is totaled you won't get back 100% of your cost for the tint but when you're talking total loss settlement with the insurance company you want to use that to negotiate the settlement amount up, at least a little bit.

Did you finance? If so, did you get GAP insurance? If so it should help make it right to get you a new car too.... Sorry to hear that the car is wrecked but glad you are okay - cars can be replaced :)

Pics will be coming once I see the car during the day. No GAP. Swore I got it, but guess not. Hopefully I find out this week how bad my situation is.

Aren't you required to get gap insurance? Did you out down 20% or more as a down payment? Sorry about the accident but glad you're okay. Cars are replaceable :)

Wow he must have changed lanes pretty violently to make your bags go off no?

Glad you're okay and good luck with everything!

Sorry to hear that happened to you OP! Glad everyone involved sounds to have been ok! Good luck with getting things sorted and hope you are able to do so quickly!

On the bright side of things, at least there is another PT Cruiser off the road and that's something we can all be thankful for...

You can add any accessory or option you had to the total. Armrests, upgraded stereo, knee pads, etc. Expect to get something near pawn shop prices for these extras though.

You can almost guarantee their initial offer won't include any extras you may have had. Might be better to wait until after their first offer so they can't claim that their offer did in fact include the extras.

Also consider removing any items you can(not the engine), small shit like the trunk liner if you had one, or the aforementioned knee pads. Clear side markers? If they didn't die, swap them back.

Just from the description, I'll tell you it's totaled. They charge over a grand for each airbag, and every other thing in the front end adds up quickly to the list of components that need to be replaced. And it doesn't take much to add up to more than the car is worth used, even if it is mint. Good luck on a replacement, hope that Flo helps you get into a new car.

Sorry to hear that. My personal experience is nothing near that but here's what happened to me in regards to settlement money.

A friend if mine was my dd one night. He was taking me home one night and hit a tree head on at 80+ mph. I had emergency surgery and had 20% of my small intestine removed.

About the money. We both had progressive so my lawyer went to both of our insurance policies for personal injury and I walked away with a clean and clear 50k check and all medical bills and attorney bills paid.

So my suggestion get a lawyer and let him do his thing because the more money he gets you the more he gets.
