Displaying the Adv Multiplier

Is there anyway to display Advanced Multiplier value in the gauge cluster? Like replace mpg or something? Just wondering. I think it would be a useful alert to things that could be upsetting your ecu like a bad spot in the tune, bad gas, heat soak etc.

Maybe the P3 vent gauge can do this?

Keep in mind that the stock tune and most aftermarket tunes will knock at tip in off cruise. Why? The car runs up to 50°+ timing advance at cruise.

My tune is absolutely safe at wot and under load but it pulled adv multiplier down to .76 going up a steep hill in 6th.

i have this problem as well, but it's not due to too much timing at cruise. i've tried everything, it just doesn't go away.

Are you on E85? Do you get it on pump gas?

i've used both, and it makes absolutely no difference at all. i've exhausted every possible solution lol.

All that spark advance is due to slow combustion. Part of the reason for the slow combustion is the cam phasing/overlap diluting the mixture.

As I mentioned in this post http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...0&postcount=17 all it takes is generating a vibration at the right frequency to potentially induce the knock control system. It might be knock, it might now.

I certainly can't judge whether you tune is safe or not, but lugging in 6th gear at low rpm is a knock prone area of engine operation. Under 2500rpm, and especially under 2000rpm tends to need more retarded spark timing.

High gear, low speed = high engine load. Listen to @arghx7, he's a professional.

I know. I just like keeping an eye on the AM. I like to analyze which situations cause the AM to drop. I'd like to not have to look over at the laptop to see what it is doing.

I guess there isn't a way. Oh well.

I can absolutely say that I have also tried pump gas and also VP Motorsport 103 and in both cases tip in knock is there. It is much much more subdued with the 103 but it is still there. I had the same thought process of trying to reduce cruise timing to no avail. One thing that I have noticed though is that the 2014 roms have modified the transient fueling tables. This might be something to look at. @jamesm take a look at the recently posted B00C rom and compare that to the A00C/A01C rom and you will see the transient fuel table has been modified right around the cruise load and RPM point. I have not had a chance to modify this yet as I am still experimenting with different fuel types but once that is done ill give it a try.

i'll check that out. i haven't yet looked at the new roms. i'm going to try that as well as tweaking the valve overlap and see what it'll do. i'll let you know if i find anything.

2600-3000k. 62-70 mph 6th gear MT

Maybe I need to stay above 3k all the time...

By looking at the logs I've taken it seems safe at wot but i can't say for a fact it is.

anywhere you're in sixth you're in the 'tip in knock zone' unless your doing 90+mph. at least based on how my car behaves.

Good to know...
