Deciding on an exhaust

So I've been highly debating on a new exhaust but not sure which one to go with. I am mainly looking for an exhaust that gives a nice growl to the car and also good for a daily driver. At the moment I'm stuck between a resonated or unresonated perrin catback exhaust and Ark DT-S exhaust. I've never heard either one of these in person so it is hard for me to tell how they sound. Thanks!

The only way you're going to get that Subaru growl is if you change the headers to Unequal length headers...

You should do this! lol [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=biGJ3pWSDTI"]Frs Exhaust - straight pipe with a borla UEL - YouTube[/ame]

Invidia q300. It has completly exceeded my expectations. Stock idle sound just a little bassy-er has a slight boxer rumble full throttle

Ever since this thread ---> http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...85#post1373985

I've been wanting Corsa. I know in the Silverado (truck) world, Corsa had an amazing sound.

The Tomei sound nice, but they're single exit.

Just installed a Perrin cat back non resonated today. It sounds great and it really isn't that loud IMO...Attachment 59374
Attachment 59373

The install was really easy and it is a perfect fitment. Tips sit nicely and evenly too...

Yeah. Perrin respnated is nice, but its pretty quiet. I personally like the zeta for sounds. Closest to my old sti before. Even the uel options dont really do it for me. Too bad its really heavy

i did a muffler delete and made a Y pipe to 3" tubing. not the best welder but it looks ok and sounds amazing! taking out my resonator soon!

Well, if you aren't planning any other engine performance modifications and are just looking for your car to sound a bit more "sporty", but yet relatively quiet at speed, I'd suggest you look into the Nameless axle back with 5" mufflers and 2.5" piping.

Another vote for the Q300. I went with a catless UEL and a full 3" exhaust and its too loud for me. It has more to do with the pipe size than anything. Q300 keeps those loud headers and front pipes quiet. Looks great too with titanium tips on Ultramarine.

Go for Invidia N1 if you want something a little louder than the Q300 but still relatively quiet IMO. I had mine for 6 months and I love every start up. It has such a good, deep growl to it.

I agree with your recommendation if the buyer is looking for sound. It has a great sound to it and I am willing to bet that some of that deeper tone can be attributed more to the larger piping closer to the headers. Namely the OP/downpipe.
Change headers with this same system and the tone gets deeper.
Imo, changing the mufflers alone on the car doesn't always get a deeper tone I care to appreciate. Louder, sure but deeper and more mature. no

You are going to get more performance from your dollars if you invest in exhaust piping closer to the headers than tail. However, I would caution you to consider a tune should you choose to change piping near the header.

With this same setup I can promise you that the stock tune with larger piping is less than desirable. With the stock tune the car bogs a bit more at lower rpms (1- 3k). At least it did for me. Flash a tune and the car really comes to life.

That brings me to another recommendation for someone looking to make the car sound more sporty. A tune. The engine gains character and the exhaust absolutely changes in sound.
