In one of the reviews, the author mentioned he was about 5'10, and after he had adjusted the driver seat, there was no room for anyone to sit behind him. If you're the same size or taller, I wouldn't count on anyone sitting behind you.

If your wife is 5'5 or shorter, you can probably get away with a kid sitting directly behind her for short trips.

This is a 2+2 so the seat arrangement is rather on the tight side. Luckily, like the Scion iQ, there is quite a bit of space fore of the passenger seat, so that in occasional scenarios, one can push the passenger seat forward without getting too uncomfortable at front, while clearing enough leg room for the rear passenger on the passenger side (right side of the FRS/BRZ left hand drive). I would call this a 2+1 arrangement and call it more like a 3 seater.
In the rear of the driver of any average driver however, there is no way of pushing the seat forward to give substantial space for rear passengers and get a comfortable driving position.

I would say the 4 seat configuration is only for short lunch break hauls from office. And 3 seat configuration for longer commute. and 2 seat for anything over 2 hours.

But for a nicely balanced, pure sports car, this is actually a bonus, as in most other cars of this balance and caliber, its almost always strictly 2 seat car.

Forward facing child seat should be fine, rear facing is going to have problems. All the junk parents tend to lug around is a different story. This will work for transporting kids occasionally but probably incontinent if doing it regularly.

I'm about 5'10", and I hopped in the back seat during the trip to Cali. I found there to be a surprisingly comfy amount of knee and head room. That, said, the front seat was squeezing right on top of my feet, so there'd probably be risk of loss of circulation on longer trips.

I'm often driving my coworkers during lunch breaks, so I've told them to enjoy it while I've still got the bigger car. That said, I think that since we've got plenty of dining options nearby and they're mostly of average height, they might still willingly suffer the back seats once I get my FR-S.

I plan on stuffing my 2.5 year old back there...well, he'll probably be 3 by the time I actually get the car. I'm sure he won't like being back there as much as he likes being in the SUV, cause he won't be able to see shit from back there. But he'll like going fast.

I'm less concerned about my kid's reaction than I am about all of the glares I'll get from parents as I roll up to daycare to pick up my kid in a tiny sports car. :bonk:

I'm 5'5 & a buck 35 and I can sit in the back but not for long periods maybe cause I have minor claustrophobia. But with kids it shouldn't be a probably as long as they aren't tall & wide and it's not for prolong periods.

I see this car as a 2 or 2+1.

Unless he is the kind that gets carsick if he cannot look out of the windows.

My wife and I are planning on having a baby in a few months, and another in a couple of years.

The BRZ/FRS will be fine for me and for quick trips with our future kids.

I grew up in small sports cars; it was great. :)

I sat in the back of the brz for fun, i'm 5'11'' and 170 lbs. It's a joke! squeezing back there is fine, but my head did not fit. Also if you hit a speed bump or pothole at high speeds my head would crack the window cuz it was turned sideways. However you can fit someone back there if you put the seat down and lay sideways! in a fetal position. I'm surprised no one has discussed this technique yet b/c I might employ it w/my brz.

Plus it would keep the CoG and MoI lower! :D
