Pro-Tip: rejuvenate your wiper blades

Take a bit of scotch-brite and rub the blade ends lengthwise with a bit of pressure. A few back and forths will do. It'll extend the life of your blades a good bit. I'm OCD about windshield cleanliness.

Very clever. I will try this.

This is a great trick. I experimented with this years ago and found it to take the streakiness(from grime) away from old blades. Works great! Everybody should do this every time they wash their cars.

You'd be surprised at the gunk that accumulates on the sides of the blade right down at the edge. This tip will address this issue. Any debris or gunk on the side of the blade right near the edge will create an unswept water line as the edge lifts at that point. That can be really annoying. If enough gunk accumulates the blade will begin to leave a band of water where the gunk lifts the blade.

Eventually UV radiation and heat kills the blade.

Depending on your local climate fitting new blades every two years may be the only solution.

Up here at 1,000 meters and with our tough winters pitting the windshields from road sanding debris, wiper blades wear out in less than 24 months.

Yeah I give them a scrub when I was my car. Phoenix heat and sun kills wiper blades. We only use them like 2 time a year. Costco has the best deal on the best blades.

Don't they sell OE wiper inserts for $3 each? Costco is good but it costs around $1X each.

Nope 8.95 each. That's way better than 30+ for rain-x blades at the auto parts stores.

Yep, and a little rubbing with alcohol will take most of the other stuff off ....:)

Hey all, I just got a set of new wiper inserts from Toyota and wanted to let you know they come with the metal stabilizers as well. Here are the part numbers and a pic for reference.
(Left side part# SU00304213)

Important note as well, getting the inserts may be the best bang for the buck option vs completely new wipers, the set is only $22 off ebay from a toyota parts department which is quite good.

Yeah I just replaced my wiper blade "rubbers" with the Toyota OEM blades. They cost 10 bucks apiece but I wanted to keep the OEM "wiper covers". It took awhile to figure out how to install them but it always does.

Just so you know those are generic beam wipers, alot of aftermarket ones have that look as well.
