Corsa Cat-Back
Hey, haven't seen any posts about this guy yet. It was released at SEMA and @Stav from JRP just posted it in the Canadian Classifieds as he will be selling it soon for a pretty good price too.
Here is a link to the thread that has a couple videos in it as well: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52874 Upon further research, I have found that it is a 2.5" system, 304 stainless and 4.5" tips. The tips are available polished or what looks like a black chrome Here is a link to the SEMA release: http://www.semashow.com/press/2013/1...exhaust-market Edit 1: They just added it to their website this morning: http://www.corsaperformance.com/sear...baru&model=BRZ Edit 2: I just emailed Corsa to see if we can get more information about their cat back system. They were very quick to respond and got the following questions answered: Is the system 2.5" or is it 3" - unlike what phasetek and other websites say, this is a 2.5" system not a 3" Is there a dyno chart - no. hopefully someone will get the system and get one done for the rest of us. How much does it weigh - 41lbs! 2.5lbs heavier than stock. I do not see how this is possible as the muffler looks to be quite a lot smaller than stock unless they are using some super thick steel. I really hope this is incorrect information. |
The size of the muffler is huge - reminds me too much of stock :[

And keep in mind the stock muffler was designed to act as somewhat of diffuser so an aftermarket exhaust like this will maintain the same effect. |
Corsa is known for providing a great sounding DRONE FREE exhaust. If the muffler is huge, then that is what was required to kill the drone. I had one on my Z06, and it was the only aftermarket exhaust I have ever installed on any car that sounded amazing and had no drone.

It sounds great! Too many catbacks have a lot of rasp, where this one seems to just have a cleaner, snarlier version of the stock note. Color me intrigued.

It looks very promising and we look forward to hearing more feedback from customers.

I'll back that up...I run Corsa exhaust on my Mustang. I have the louder, more aggressive of the two systems, and despite how loud it is outside the car, there is absolutely no drone. I don't know how they do it, but they do it well. It won't be the lightest exhaust on the market, but it will be high quality stuff. |
In the vw world, APR uses corsa mufflers and they are 100% drone free. I had a full 3" catless setup on my 500hp GTI and it was awesome.
Depending on how my revworks/nameless op/dp sounds with the stock catback this would be my first choice in an aftermarket catback. |
Just popped over to Corsa's website. Looks like they have an intake coming out as well. There is no sign of the actual product yet and I can't find it when I googled it. Perhaps @Stav has an idea as he was the first to post anything about the exhaust

Too bad price is way north of $1k.
I just love my corsa on my truck. True no drone at cruise and firecracker V8 when on the gas. |
Corsa has always been pricey, but quality systems on corvettes, mustangs, and camaros.

Just updated the main post with some more information I got straight from Corsa

It's probably not too far off. Corsa mufflers are relatively small, but heavy. I haven't weighed the difference, but the axle-backs on my Mustang are noticeably heavier than the stock ones. That could also be the shipping weight (box, packing, and all). |
