difference between vortech tune and perrin tune?
i was wondering if anyone could tell me the differences between the vortech tune and the perrin tune. all i have on the car is a front catted pipe and perrin catback exhaust.
thanks for any info |
have you called either to ask?
|
ive talked to both and neither can give me a side by side to see what im gaining or or not from each. so i figured best to reach out to the forum and see what people might know

Most importantly, the Vortech tune falls under their CARB Approval certification, so if that's important to you, then you want the Vortech tune.
Beyond that, even tunes from the same tuner are going to vary from one to another, so if you're looking for specifics like that, you will need to reach out to both tuners, let them know the specific version of the tune you have, and ask them for the details so you can do a side by side. That being said, you may want to approach them with a more specific question rather than "could you tell me what you changed from stock?" as it could be a pretty lengthy discussion. Perhaps a better question is, what are you trying to discern between the two? Are you making a buying decision between getting the full Vortech kit which includes the Vortech tune versus the Tuner kit from Perrin? |
My main question was the power difference between the 2?

My guess is that the horsepower will be similar between the two, due to the fact that we worked together during the R&D process for the kit. The main difference will be that their tune was built off 91 octane, and to get CARB approved. Here is one of the dyno graphs I found on our blog. http://blogperrinperformance.com/wp-...k-1000x625.jpg Hope that helps! |
thank you that does help... will it get more power running 93 octane vers the 91?

Our ACN91 isn't called "piss gas" for nothing. Most of us in AZ/CA/NV only run it b/c it's what we can get and E85 isn't widely available or fuel efficient. CA is absolutely loony to force this awful crap on us. |
