Nitto NT555 vs Hankook Ventus V12 evo - Thoughts?
Hi All
I'm upgrading to a new set of 18x8 wheels, and looking at going with a square 225x40 setup. Now, the threshold of my price range is about where the ventus v12s are. I live in Texas - no snow / ice, it is weekend car - I don't drive it in the rain. I want some stickier tires for spirited driving. I don't track / auto cross (yet?), just drive it on the weekend in the hills. I've heard a lot of good things about the ventus v12s. However, their tread life is ~20-25k miles, which is expected out of such tire. However, those Nitto NT555 may have similar performance, but they have a thread life closer to ~35k miles. That makes the price per mile of the Ventus v12s nearly twice as expensive as the nittos. So, is it worth it? What is the tread life like on MPSS? I have no problem dishing out the money for those, if they've got a better price / mile ... |
A friend of mine runs the V12 Evo's on his GTI, they seem to work really well and the definitely provide good grip on a twisty road. Straight line traction seems to be lacking, but that might be more the car than anything else. My girlfriend also runs the V2 concept on her Mazda 2, and despite being all season tires they have a ton of grip and even perform pretty well during autocross events.
I don't really have any experience with the Nittos though, so I can't really give you a good comparison. |
So you want decent tires with good miles? Look at bfgoodridge comp 2's or kdws. Used both for track and autox and dd.
